I have a 70 and replacing the vinyl tops with a 69-woodgrain top. I have 69 re pop woodgrain tops. Cannot seem to get the 69 hinge to work with the 70 console. Could anyone get a pic of a 69 or 68 hinge area, not sure how far back that console base was used. Thanks for the help.

I can't help with a photo. The console plastic housing was the same from 1966 - 1973. There is no reason that a '69 lid should not fit unless the screw holes don't line up.

I've read that the re-pop tops don't fit well, except possibly with the re-pop base.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for. Here are some images of all re-pop stuff I have installed. The gaps are very close and take some patience to get right.

Nice! Unless it's there and I can't tell from the photo (dark), you need one of those shifter delete plates that are so hard to find.
That would have been nice. Fortunately, I have access to CNC equipment at work so I could make do.

Back then, it was "bucket seats, console, and floor shift" for the whole meal deal. Never considered that some might want a console with a (gasp!) column shift. Then, after I bought a correct automatic-trans console assy (even with the correct interior and carpet colors) at a swap meet, I wondered about replacing the buddy seat in my '67 Newport with it. That's when I noticed that little inset in the FSM console illustration, which had the "shifter delete plate" in it. I'd looked at that illustration many times and never investigated what that inset was about. FWIW

Enjoy!

I didn’t realize that was an option. I wouldn’t mind having the console with the column shift and the shifter delete plate. With my convertible I would like having the extra courtesy lights, it is so dark at night with only the map light up front and the 2 small lights below the rear seat. I would like the storage in the console too
Except For the arm rest, the buddy seat is basically useless and doesn’t have a seat belt anyway. Where did you find the console re-popped? did it come with the lights and wiring as well?

Each piece was purchased separately on e-bay. "B body console" will generate most of the components needed.

The pics really helped, thanks. Had a brain fart with the hinge, pic clarified it in a second. The top fits the original console nicely. Looks like the latch tab for the lid is different than the 70-latch tab. They sell a whole kit that has the screw reinforcement plates for 69 and down and the lid latch tab. I just need the lid latch tab, If I have to, I'll buy a whole kit or does anyone have just a tab for sale? Thanks
