finally dropped the the tank want to clean it out .got before installing New sending unit.
also there's 4 vent tubes, the previous guy ran a hose back to the other vent on pass side and the drivers side looks like it goes back up to the trunk.
need help?

Not sure what you need help with. How to clean it out or help with the vents?

The best way to clean the tank is to take it to a local radiator shop and have them boil it in cleaner. Not many still do it.

If you have a pressure washer you can do it with that then you should reseal the inside with some kind of tank sealer.

As for the tank vents, they are illustrated in the respective factory service manual. Free download at www.mymopar.com .

Is the tank cleaning just for general principles or is there some operational issue?

sending unit nipple was cracked, dropped the tank to replace.
and looked inside the tank, just want to get the crud out.

A side issue is that whatever you remove from the tank will be considered "hazardous material" and need to be disposed of properly. Which is why the radiator shop or other place that does fuel tank cleaning can be a better choice.

The OTHER thing is that if it is rust, you'll probably be money ahead to get a new tank and be done with it. There is a "Gas Tank ReNew" operation where you send them the tank, they cut it apart, clean as needed, put it back together with all new OEM coatings, and send it back. But that was about $550.00 last time I looked. New tanks are less than that, IF you shop around AND can get one.

Just some thoughts,

For '70 the cars with California emissions had a 4 vent tank, Federal emissions had a two vent system. If you have the build sheet for the car, you can look for the CA emission code to see if your car came to CA with that package. A quick check would be to look on the passenger side valve cover breather assembly. If it has a small hose running down the passenger fender splash panel to the rear of the car, the vehicle has CA package. If the timing sticker is still on the driver side fender well, it will clearly state if the car has CA emission package.
