I've always wondered if the 70 and 71 Polara grilles are interchangeable? I always suspected they are, but was never 100% sure.

It can be done but it isn't easy. There is a member on this site whose member name is @fc7_plumcrazy and for him I had my body/paint guy convert a 1971 Polara into a 1970 model appearance wise. The conversion of the rear end was a nightmare and the conversion of the front end wasn't trivial either. But in my case at least, I do much prefer the front end of the 1970 model over the 1971 version. Here is a thread about the conversion:

Thoroughly interesting read. I'm with you on the idea that I would never have guessed it'd be that complicated or difficult, but the whole thread was insightful and illuminating. Also, congratulations on owning one of every fuselage Monaco type. That's amazing. Really gave me a lot to think about and consider. Especially when the discussion came around to appreciating a car's identity and history for what it is and how it is, rather than forsaking it. Didn't expect to go in with a philosophical mindset, but kind of feel better now having come out with one. Always something to learn in every thread.

On '70 and '71 Chryslers, the radiator mount was further back on the '71s. Don't know if the same exists for Dodge.
