71 Dodge Polara Brougham coupe

Put back together for now....I accidentally posted the update in my other Polara thread. I guess its hard to keep up with myself when I have 7 different Dodges in my head at all times on top of normal daily life...

Okay I started cutting into the donor roof section. It was poorly repaired at one point, but still much more to work with then what is left on my car. I have a solid chunk of 73 Chrysler Dutchman panel to work with as well and should be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together with minimal modifications. Hopefully...

A derby buddy reached out and allowed me to come pull some parts from a 69 New Yorker that was going to meet its demise. (Rusty and well used Chicago car) so I got the regulators and wiring as well as switches. I was told 4 door stuff could work in a 2 door with some minor modifications...but I was also told i need 2 door regulators. Can someone school me fully on a fuselage power window conversion? Would a imperial 2dr have the same power regulators as a dodge? I have alot of questions...

I'm headed back to the shop shortly to tuck Minnesota back in for the night. I'll look at my 71 body service manual. I need a parts book though...anyone?

On hardtops only, Chrysler changed the regulators, glass, doors, and inner 1/4 area (coupes) in 1971, so you will need to look for 1971 to 1973 coupe regulators for the conversion. They can be from a Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, or Imperial, as they all use the same regulators. You should be able to make that 4 door wiring work on a coupe without too much trouble. The window motors from the '69 may come in handy as spares. I do recommend refurbishing the motors before installing them in the car. It's not that hard, though sometimes you run into ones that refuse to work properly, no matter what you do to them.

No turning back now...
I have fully deconstructed the donor roof and cut out all of my rusted out window channel. Time to start piecing it back together with clean metal...

If @bigmoparjeff is correct, then I won’t be able to use the power window regulators I saved from the ‘73 coupe I scrapped for either of my ‘70 projects. PM me if you are interested and I’ll dig out what I have.

I've never had an opportunity to compare the them side to side, so it is possible you may be able to adapt them to work between the different years. Could you post a couple pics of the '73 regulator for one of the rear windows?

Great thread just found this.
My initial goal was to do much of the same with mine, but metal work was never my passion. My car had too many emotional links for me to learn on, so I had to farm out the metal work.
Great job. This is looking good.

And the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place....I have been plugging away little by little and this is where I am at this time. Should be starting to stick it all together soon.
