73 Monaco wagon

Speed control looks better too, believe it or not. I scrubbed on it a bit. Maybe my pal 70SportSuburban can dig up a slightly used plastic chrome knurled rotating switch in better condition to replace this one and doll up the interior a bit more.

I'll keep an eye out my next yard trip for you!!!

Cleaning the kick panels. Goodbye Oregon loam.

Where better to clean them than a vintage 1971 avocado-colored bath tub.

Meanwhile...a little car wax on the chrome bezel to keep the rust away...

The “O”, however, is different, and that is a problem. Have to think about it some more.

The panels are out. Unpleasant and tedious but necessary. Not nearly as serious or bad as removing a transmission I suppose, so I shouldn’t complain.

I truly admire your steadfastness. Superb effort and obviously a labor of love. Keep up the great work Scott!

Thanks for the encouragement Steve. SEM paint will yield ‘driver quality’ upgrades on the plastic panels. ID’ing those nuts for the letters was a godsend. The “O” has different (smaller dia. and shorter) studs, so that will require more searching. I’m sure Auveco will carry something I can use.

The metal strips above the rear quarter glass, back glass, and WS need re-painted too. It will be fun doing a color match. I enjoy that aspect of it. Aesthetics.

It’s just a bus! Everything is a “Texas-sized” job.

Went out this pm to the auto parts place. That was nice, just to get it out and drive it.

Rubbed down these cargo area rails. There should be enough surface rust that it is called patina. But not so much you worry about whether your tetanus shot is up to date.
