Given the straight line seam across the top of the rear quarter at the failure point, I'd say there was a poorly executed patch or splice of the panel underneath complete with an ample amount of bondo that has now failed. Car was probably hit on that quarter at some point and the shoddy repair has come to light. Somebody is dreaming at $6k for this car.
