AMC Gremlin

Thanks a bunch. Yeah, the first link is something which would be too difficult in Poland, as the car is too incomplete.

The add in the second link i found previously, but the price is steep 7,5kusd for a car which is in much worse condition, and not as original.

The condition of the car which i'm looking for is secondary, most important to me is it's originality and must be at least 95% complete in parts.

Thank you guys, and just so you know for the time being i'm not looking buying another car . Other financial stuff i gotta take care of this year. Hopefully if all goes well, i could start searching next year.

All in all, real bad luck, but luckily no one got hurt.

Keep rollin ' ! :)

Hey! Pulled the trigger on another creature - in green ;) Not exactly a driver, far from it really. Parked 30 years. At this moment it's waiting to be loaded into the shipping container.

The upside, was cheap, and a 73, i don't like them 74 onwards. Another bonus is it's complete, nothing missing. Looks like someone had a fender bender, maybe some mechanical issues, and just parked it to rot. Don't know about the engine, the seller (btw he is on this forum and has a early Newport) said he hasn't tried turning it over. Floors are gone, frame doesn't look to bad. A nice bonus, it's a factory air car !

To be honest, it's a turd, and it will be a challenging resto. First steps will be to pull it apart.

Not to keen on the green, and will probably go with orange w/black stripes from the X trim.

Now, close your eyes!

Get that Aircon working! Always love seeing that big AC compressor mounted on the front of a straight six.

Where you moving to?
Fresno. Frances and I are both retiring this year. We bought a home there to be close to our Daughter and family. I wanted to leave California, but I lost that argument. But, I will admit, being able to see my Grandsons on any day in the week does bring me joy! We bought a house with a pool so we should see them a lot. HA! We sold our Bakersfield home.

That will be great for you. Both our sons and family's live 10 minutes away. Very Thankful for that.

The Green Creature has landed in Krakow, Poland. It's surprisingly in not too bad condition, not rotted to hell. The floors are gone and need sheet metal work on the body panels, but the doors, frame rails, hood, shock towers and leaf spring mounts all in very good condition. The car is also complete, including interior. Even the gas tank looks fine.

Obviously, what i can find new i will buy and replace, and the rest i will have rebuilt / remanufactored.

No info on the 232 engine yet, if it turns over, and the Torqueflite tranny.

So it begins, a new project. I would like to have the car sent of to paint in march next year.

I had a Gremlin a 71 I think, it got passed around the neighborhood for $25 when you were between cars. It ran over more mailboxes, went airborne over sand piles at Saxon Falls Sand and Gravel in NJ and NEVER died! A strange 3 speed stick with 2 rods and notches the shifter slipped into. My whole circle of friends that possessed it at some time remember it fondly. A peppy 6 cylinder that was suprising quick in a light car.

Yes, the car is quite peppy, nice torque with the inline 6, has a good get up and go. But that's all there is, because when u put the pedal to the metal, a lot more doesn't happen ;) Simply put it's a nice daily or weekend cruiser.

At some point the car had an accident, and i am having it pulled. The front radiator support is all good, along with the engine rails and supension supports. Fenders are a little bent, along with the hood. The 73 had the bumpers mounted on shocks, they did a really good job in limiting the damage.

Good luck on that!

As for seats, good Gremlin/Hornet ones are hard to find. Therefore, we dropped Dakota seats into ours.

A work in progress, as usual @ the bodyshop.

Bought a few bits in the USA:

* new windshield
* rear spoiler/ air deflector
* new front and rears floors, new floors under the rear seats
* gas cap w/ Gremlin logo
* new windows belts
* front end repair kit (2 Upper Ball Joints, 2 Lower Ball Joints, 4 Upper Control Arm Bushings, 2 Lower Control Arm Bushings, 2 Strut Rod Bushings, 2 Stabilizer Link Kits,2 Outer Tie Rod Ends)

The rest of the parts I'll order off rockauto sometime in autumn this year. In the winter I'll have the interior redone as well.

The front & rear seats were sandblasted, and powder coated. Having them reupholstered.

The engine is s***, looks like someone just ran the car to the ground & parked it. The odo show 44k miles, so must have rolled over once or twice.

Gonna rebuild the engine.

Anyone know where i can find the stock specs of the engine, and for a first bore over ?

Looks like the crank is also slightly scratched. What a turd ;P

You'd be better off finding a Jeep 4.0 and installing it. Better performance all around and bolts right up.
