I was wondering, since everyone seems to have issues with the amp gauges blowing out on these cars, does anyone know of some sort of replacement (maybe from another car ) that can be used in place of the stock gauge and mounted in the stock location? Maybe even switching over to a voltage gauge instead of the amp gauge? Has anyone here done this?

There is a simple fix for the gauge and you can still keep the original gauge. The fix has been posted on a thread on FCBO before. I'm sure once people start to wake up today they can tell you how to do it or point you toward the thread. I have Formals and don't have that problem.

On the rear of the factory amp gauge, there are two studs. It is best if you do this with the battery disconnected, by the way.
On each stud is a wire. Simply put both wires on the same stud (doesn't matter which one). Gauge is effectively bypassed. I have done this to practically all of my Mopars. I usually add a voltmeter somewhere, but that is optional.

I've read alot of people have had issues with the factory amp gauge, but has anyone found something that will bolt in it's place that looks factory, maybe something that has a voltmeter?

There are a lot of threads about it over on FABO and FBBO.

You can also contact http://www.redlinegaugeworks.com/default.asp and I'm sure others. They can convert your amp gauge to a voltmeter. I've heard they have some in stock already converted.

good idea as Ma engineered all of the power to go to the dash through the AMP gauge .. which is not really optimal

Here's an excellent how-to by Propwash over at FBBO very good read even if you don't think this is necessary. Prop's how-to's are always excellent and he's a hell of a nice guy.

This is what I was going to suggest.
