Sounds really good Stan. Tried going back through the thread, but couldn't find what exhaust you used. What mufflers did you go with and pipe size? Headers or stock manifolds?

I've tried to keep myself out of your thread as much as I can, but..... it does sound really good Stan.

I think he has stock exhaust with Flowmaster 40's.
El Correcto.

Hey guys. It's just the original 383-2 with 121k on it. I bet the original valve cover gaskets are still on it.
I'm just trying to go back to 1967 without using drugs. If you're new here, this car is the twin to my first C-body back then.

I simply wanted the sound. Nothing more. Allows me to go into a trance when I'm cruising. It ain't for performance. It ain't for appearance. It ain't for anything except for the sound to allow me to escape 2014 for a while. An escapism from reality which really, really, sucks.

Simply a 2-1/4" system from the manifold back.
No crossover.
Turned down tips.
Flowmaster 40's.
That's it. My only requirement was NO WELDING. Flanges and clamped joints only.
I'm sorry but it's a huge mistake thinking one piece welded systems are the way to go. Wait until you need to drop the system to work on something underneath. I learned that at 16...

I went with Flowmaster 40's because I have used them twice before. Their characteristics are a rupata rupata tinny idle, throaty slow acceleration and a semi quiet low RPM cruise. It has a horrible resonance at mid RPM cruise so i just keep my foot out of there.
Just like my old Thrushes. The original ones. Not the new crap.

Very nice Stan and I agree with not welding exhaust parts together for just the reason you stated. You could cut the drone down by putting in sound deadener.

Nah.
I'm just gonna drive it...

Are you kidding me? He's the tightest guy on the board so tight he squeaks.... A retired Teamster....... He should buy for us

Well I finished up the interior today to where I want it to be complete down to the Navajo Indian blanket front seat cover and genuine 3M duct tape for the rips.
The HVAC works great, the pipes are like a Rhapsody in Blue.

I want to thank everybody for the parts that made this possible. I lost count of all the odds and ends it needed.

I'm sure I'll tinker with it to stay busy but if nothing more gets done I'm still thrilled with the car as it sits.

Now, when I say I'm just gonna drive it, I can say it without crossing my fingers behind my back.

That sounds good. I'm looking forward to getting to the point that I can put in dual exhaust on my car. I'm jealous.

Thank you Klaus !!!!! :yaayy:

The "real McCoy" very kindly and graciously offered to me by cm23uoc all the way from Germany.
If you say: "It's just a stupid STP decal", you don't understand.
I have an Isky decal coming.
I need one more authentic and correct decal from the late 60's now.
