2 weeks ago I was coming home and was about a mile from home and when I hit the brakes this horrible thumping occurred on the right front brakes. Stop looked, didn't notice an obvious problem, but was leaking brake fluid and limped home.
As many of you know I had an epic disc brake conversion, so I thought what now. I took the wheel off and fluid was leaking where the rubber hose entered the caliper. Decided the few times I overheated the brakes I might have damaged the hose or caliper. Ordered both since they are pretty cheap.
Today I went to work on Goldie, first the hose was loose so the thumping must have loosen it and then the real problem was revealed. The lower mount bolt was gone.
After 2 trips to the hardware store I am back on the road. No damage seems to have occurred.
If anyone has a a spare mounting bolt laying around I would be interested in purchasing it. It is 1/2" 20, 2" long. Wrench head is a 3/4.
