I need a decent rear seat speaker grille for my 67 Polara. I believe 67/68/69/70 Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler C body convertibles are all interchangeable aside from the emblem, which can be switched.
I'll post a picture a little later.

There was a fella here that made some a couple years back, haven't seen him around in forever though.

I was able to source the expanded metal to repair mine but it would be a monumental project. The screen is held in place to the pot metal frame with what looks like at least 10,000, (well a lot anyways), peened over pegs. Each would need to be drilled and replaced with small sheet metal screws. Or epoxyed in place. Not sure I've ever seen a good one.

I made one out of perforated stainless steel. For me it worked well, it is a lot stronger than the Perforated aluminum , it will never rust and can be painted black if needed. I think it cost me $12 for enough to do 2 grills. I left mine the stainless finish because I liked the contrasting look with the chrome frame and center emblem. I should have washed the back of the grill it’s quite dirty , maybe next time . I was installing a dual voice coil speaker .

Hey Welder Guy,
My name is Galen from Tulsa area. Can the rear leaf shackles be cut and lengthened by two inches by welding two sets together?
Will it hold? Just want them to look stock and still maintain that smooth bouncy ride.

Where did you get the stainless screen?
What size are the holes?
Well up here in Alberta I went to a place called Metal Supermarkets. https://www.metalsupermarkets.com/ It’s a metal supply business that deals with specialty metals cut to order. I don’t recall the hole size off hand ( I think it was 1/16 or 3/32 ) . It was 3/32 thick and I bought a piece 12”x 24” then trimmed it to fit with a pair of metal snips . As far as your shackles go I wouldn’t recommend welding them together, instead get your springs re-arched at a local spring shop . It’s safer and you will won’t throw out your steering alignment.

Thanks
I appreciate that.

Galen, I thought I heard you bought one from some guy in a swap meet for your car. Maybe that was something else.

@bluefury361 I'll take a 3rd one if you find it.

@Welder guy If you ever make anther one for the heck of it. I need one for a 66 Polara. They're probably a bit different than '67 up. The speaker mount looks the same.

Found a guy that had some material and the pattern.
$40 each. Told him I’d take two , then they were $100 each plus shipping, so I decided to just keep looking.

Don’t you just love it when someone tries to Gouge you, the sad thing is he probably sold a half dozen of them. Go with the stainless you won’t be disappointed . If so desired the stainless can be polished to a mirror finish for a added touch .

Back then that grille was often the very first thing messed up on a brand new car.
Fill that new convert with a bunch of H.S. kids and someone is bound to elbow that thing or hit it with their head messing around.
And that dual coil speaker is the exact one I bought for the Monaco. 6”x9” in back with the 4”x10” in the dash.

Good idea. I have the same issue with my cover panel. I'm not sure I want to cut the original so will likely make a replacement to clear the speaker magnet.
I'm also wondering about rear window clearance when lowering the top. Has that been an issue?
The 67 filler panel is a little different. It's flat all the way across and die cut from heavy laminated paper material.

will.
