Yes the lock can be made to work. Its a simple solenoid style. Button in the glove box actuates it usually. Should be switch for trunk light located on a platform by hinge Im thinking

Did a few electric trunk releases on Dobas over the years. Power to switch ground to trunk lid if i recall correctly

That's supposed to be a proper trunklight set. If so there seems to be a spring loaded Switch involved, just like the actuators for the doors.

If you're going at the rear valance once more I'd consider doing it without that "gravel guard coating". As I'm not too good on smoothening out welded surfaces I used this type of short cut in the past, but gradually removed it from all my cars. Just doesn't look right and dirt and exhaust fumes stick to the grooves pretty persistantly making such surfaces hard to Keep clean in the Long run.

actually looked for the actuator near the hinges and was nada....will follow wire tomorrow and see where it gos...

OK, just saw it's a Hood AND trunklight package, so that Switch could also belong up front but I remember a Switch usually near the passenger side trunk hinge.
Otherwise it could have direct Connection and always be on when the lights are.

I have both electric trunk and trunk light. My trunk release switch is a push button inside the center console. The trunk light has a mercury switch, I believe it's pat of the lamp socket. I know it doesn't have manual switch because I traced it back. Needs a manual off/on as well as the mercury, the mercury to handle opening and closing the trunk. The manual switch to turn it off completely so that it doesn't run the battery down at car shows where the trunk sits open for hours.

I will concur on the mercury switch for the trunk light, I remember my 70 Sport Fury being that style. My remote trunk release on the SF was vacuum operated as well.

k tracked that wire and no actuator so am guessin its a mercury switch then?
bulb was burnt out so really never noticed it there....looking forward to having all working on the car as it should...
started off the morning polishing up few things and cleaning overspray offa windows...

lovein that autosol...
anyway tiein into trunk alittle..well a lot really.....just cleaning up things for most part and seen a 1/2 crack and daylight so ended up pulling caulking from each side of where trunk pan meets extensions....seems they never got to crazy when welding these panels up so were gaps galore...between that and the underside of the panels opening up due to dirt ect..water snow,,frezze thaw ect..
anyway pulled all the caulking and cleaned up joints really good then hit all joints or bare metal in trunk with Metal Blast then Rustbullet ...once that was done used up some old Shure seal l had left over from my 91 gmc build years ago....
Also caulked all seems underneath to ensure panel gaps were well sealed and then took 4 inch vise body clamps and closed all panel seems closed as they came from factory...tomorrow with touch up that area with final coat of undercoating and will hit all trunk areas that need to be redone or recoated...
once that's done will put final trunk paint in to finish it all up along with original trunk mat lve cleaned up...
