Very nice car.

1965 was a innovative design year for Chrysler, especially for the Newport which exuded a 1960's style more than any of their other models.
Now with the recessed front stainless/chrome grill, and quad headlamps, recessed rear body contour, ensconcing the rear tail lamp assemblies, and bold side body contours, this Chrysler 2 Door Hardtop Newport is a wonderful, 48,131 mile, surviving example of this design.

Beautifully refinished at a cost of over $6K in its original Peacock Turquoise two stage finish, it is virtually a rust free car, (some surface rust appears normally on the undercarriage) with no accident history and excellent stainless and chrome, all of which were removed for refinishing. The body shop receipts will come with the car, outlining the step by step procedure inclusive of complete removal of the original paint and preparation prior to refinishing.

The Newport's complete interior is very much original with the exception of the re-upholstering of the front seat bench center panel to achieve an almost perfect match, and is in excellent condition. Carpeting, and the dash pad appear almost new. All the Newport's glass is in excellent condition as are the glass felt channels and weatherstrips. The windows operate easily with no issues.

Power is provided by a pre-emissions, 5 main bearing, 383 cubic inch (6.3 Liter) 270 h/p V8 with a significant amount of torque, (390@2800 rpm) coupled to a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission, and finalized by a 3.23 ratio differential. Compression is 9.2:1. Carburation is a dual downdraft Stromberg. The engine starts immediately, and runs wonderfully with no unusual noises or smoke. Shifting is smooth and almost seamless. The Newport is surprising quick, given its weight of just over 4K pounds.

The Newport's previous owner, having owned and coveted the car for many years, rebuilt the front suspension, added custom dual exhaust with Flo-Master mufflers, and replaced the rear leaf springs. The Newport is also equipped with Power Steering and Power Brakes, which are more fitting to stop a train.

Lights , heater, and controls all work well with no issues. An aftermarket FM stereo radio/equalizer with some interesting speakers (top right and left of dash in pictures) has been installed, given the original AM radio is inoperative, however does emit some peculiar sounds. (message from space.....?)

Wheels and tires are factory 14 inch and the radial tires are in above average condition, however, you may wish to consider whitewalls or a custom wheel and tire set. The Newport "tracks" nicely when driven with no apparent alignment issues.

Recent servicing includes oil and filter replacement with Valvoline semi synthetic 10/30 oil, new air filter, brake and wheel bearing inspection, and coolant flush. Its body as been waxed with Zymol Premium wax. The paint finish is probably a 9 out of 10, 10 being concourse.

In conclusion, the Chrysler Newport 2 Door Hardtop will be sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I encourage personal inspection prior to auction end, and will not allow it following auction end as a condition of sale. Please do your due diligence beforehand. * I furthermore reserve the right to end the auction early. The Newport is for sale locally. ** Bidders with a feedback score of 10 (ten) or less, kindly give me a call prior to bidding, thus avoiding having your bid cancelled.**

My reserve is set, using Hagerty Valuation and Old Cars Report Price Guide for a #2, very nice quality car. Respectfully, please do not ask my reserve.

This is a lovely, low mileage, one of a kind condition Chrysler Newport, which has been loved, maintained, and preserved in years past. It certainly illustrates it. It will make some lucky bidder a wonderful car for years to come.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm EST. Thank you for the interest, best of luck, and enjoy the pictures.

Based on the Hagerty website reserve will be around $9500

It's a new paint job but still I think the pictures are too nice, they look like they are improved a bit, the color depth of the car compared to the surrounding area is way of....

Yeah that's gorgeous!

Yes, the photos have definitely been photo shopped. Just take a shot with a nice camera and crank up the clarity and color saturation settings. Nice car though.

Looks very nice but it started going south for me with the photos of the door panels. The rest of the interior looks great. Why not get the arm rest bases re-vacuum plated? Then I saw the engine bay and it was over for me. An extra $1,000 (max) to at least paint and detail the engine and engine bay would have gone a long way. I don't think he will get his money out of this one.

I'm not even going to comment on the exhaust tips. Or did I just do that?

Old Cars is around $9300 for #2. However, I would knock that down because of not doing the engine compartment, having an incorrect exhaust system, and an aftermarket stereo with those cheesy speakers. Just saw the end result of a re-bodied 1968 Cougar GT-E 427 and it went for less than half an original one would go for. Me, I don't like modifications anymore unless I do them myself and they are 100% reversible. This car can be reversed but that costs money and the seller doesn't seem to realize that.

Not a fan of the rattle can spruce up of the engine compartment. Why pay big bucks for two stage peacock green paint and skimp on the engine compartment?

Great color combination, but not even close to a #2 condition car.

Some unusual sort of check valve, at least such a valve is necessary for a powerbrake Setup. That hose going to the intake is not suitable for vacuum Operation IMHO

That's the stock vacuum source for the booster. I pull 19" of vacuum from there in Park, 16-17" in Drive at idle.

Yes, but I was talking about the hose itself, should be one with a metal wire mesh reinforcement to prevent being sucked Close, Looks like a regular water hose to me.

Looks like one trip to the plumbing isle at the hardware store got him most of that vacuum hose and the power steering return hose. What's that bulbous cover over the steering joint? Can't recall seeing one like it.

That is a heat shield for the rag joint.
I've see it many times but I can't figure out what cars got them and what cars didn't.
