Electric fuel Pump placement

Honestly I was wanting to put a high pressure pump in the tank, there are plenty options. But 60 bucks sounded more appealing than 700. Plus running new lines and all that... i have a bad back and that ontop of the money sounded like way too much for me. There weren't really any indicators of the pump going out, it simply just stopped as i ideled in the driveway making some efi adjustments. Yeah 10 years is not so bad, I agree. The volume of the tank is great, just not at the gasstation haha. I have a thirsty 360 in there that dosent know what gas mileage is haha

I did mount the new pump lower and at an angle onto the framemrail but realized I only have a few inches between the pump and the muffler. I should probably fabricate a heatshield huh?
You don't need or can use a high pressure pump. With any electric pump, it's wise to run a regulator set at 5# where most carbs run best at. You just need delivery and not pressure.

Sniper 2 efi needs 60psi ;) i dont run a carb anymore! The 5lbs pump just fills a sump with a float like a carb. So I can and would need a HP pump in the tank for the efi IF i was wanting to get rid of the sump in the engine bay

Did you find that the optimum position for the electric fuel pump is still within 12 inches of the gas tank?
Or is the new pump installed further away?
Electric pumps are "pushers". They don't have much power on the suction side.

Its further than 12 inches, i also installed a one way check valve so it keeps fuel primes in the hose "drain back" out the hose into the tank. Im not sure if that works as intended as the pump sometimes still clicks VERY loud, i think the checkvalve might stick every now and then...

I run a bunch of electric stuff including EFI and I made a section woth a big relay that powers all accessories and is activated by "ign on". This goes through a crash switch that will cut the power to the relay and the entire car will be dead.

I suspected that it was farther away because of position by right side frame rail, but thought I'd ask to be sure.
Despite the electric fuel pump being better at pushing fuel, I have seen several installs on FBBO along right side frame rail.
