Nightmare continues! Still trying to reassemble my 1965 Sport Fury which I was forced to move from one restoration shop to another story of which I have commented herein before. Never found all the parts and never will and it has been frustrating, at best, to find replacement parts.

I am trying to find a source for the Fender Bolts which are 1/4-20 3/4 inch long with a 1 1/8" washer, black finish. The 1" washers might work if push comes to shove.

Searched the internet and have been to several stores specializing in fasteners; no cigar.

Does anyone know where these can be sourced. Thanks.

What's the part number? Marty Mopar, or National Moparts would be my first go to, but if you have the factory part number, you'll likely be able to find vendors with NOS.

I have a coffee can full of all the hardware from taking the front sheet metal off of the 65 NY'er I parted out. You're welcome to it if you want to pick it up.

G'Day All,
Long & Boring Rant to Follow, Be Warned!
Many Years Ago When I Worked in the Wrecking Industry, We Had a Major Pain
Trying to Train our Young Car Dismantlers to Keep all the Bolts When They Pulled Certain Items Apart.
We Specialised in Fords and Often Found That Complete Power Steering Assemblies would be Missing the Bolt that held the P/Steer
Pump to the Head. (Extra Long & Strong)
Always Seemed that One Bolt was Missing & Almost Impossible to Replace.
Where We were Fortunate was that there was a Local Store called the " NUT HOUSE"
All They Did was Bolts Nut & Washers.
They Saved Our Butts on a Number of Occasions.
Two Sisters of Middle Age had Inherited the Place from their Father.
You Would Walk into the Place with a Bolt in Your Hand & before You Got to the Counter
They Would Say "How Many You Want?"
Amazing Characters!

Back to the Wrecking Game!
One of the Things that Staggered Me was You'd Often Find a Young Fella Laying Under a Car undoing the "U-Bolts"
on a Diff with a Rattle Gun While he had it Sitting on a Jack under the Centre of the Diff.
Drag Him Out & Ask Him to Explain What's Going to Happen When the Bolts Eventually Let Go.
AND Some of Them Just Couldn't SEE IT!
Fortunately Most of Them Survived. LOL
Regards, Tony.M

We met before. If you have 24-30 to the specs outlined it would be great. I no longer have your address so PM me. I am up in Sun City so not to far. Thanks.

Bolts are such a big deal. I don't understand how anyone could "restore" an antique vehicle without the proper bolts.

I have a near unlimited stash, usually always find what I need.

When you live an hour away from any decent parts store, you do this.

During the pandemic, I needed a few M8 nuts I didn't have, and they were so scarce at stores I had to go to three stores to find one package of nuts.

I have a lot of old Mopar bolts.

Sounds like a group of people that donated a few fingers over time!

Three stores looking for 65 Sport Fury parts; I wish I was so lucky! Nightmare. They made approximately 6,800 convertibles SF’s and very few vendors make reproduction and used parts almost nonexistent. Chevy made approximately 1.5 - 1.6 Million 1955-1957’s and parts are easily found and cheap!

Here's what I have.

I had a few cars worth of bolts zinc plated when I did my resto a few years ago. I can take some pics of the various sizes for you if you are chasing specific original bolts. My car has all original bolts throughout.

Some of the bolts are not 1/4 I am trying to put my 1965 Sport Fury back together after a botched restore also, I have found 1/4" and they will not fit in the holes so be careful. I still have not figured out what size the holes are as of yet

Tap your holes out, chase the threads, or use a tap & die set to figure out what the thread is. The holes really should be 1/4-20. Handy is a set of socket type tap drivers, a lifesaver in many cases.

Not too many mystery threads on American cars besides some odd large threads like seat belt bolts.

Hex head "bolts" starts at 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, rarely 7/16-14 but I've seen it on exhaust flanges, moving on to 1/2-13. Some use of fine threads, such as 1/2-20 on oil drain plug.

Some bigger bolts underneath, K member bolts must be at least 1" thread size.

A torque chart.

Torque specifications are for stock factory type bolts with light engine oil applied to the threads and the underside of the bolt head. Other lubrications offer reduced friction and increased bolt tension, and will affect the torque figure. If using aftermarket performance bolts, like ARP, you should follow the recommended torque specifications of the aftermarket bolts.
