Hi All, I finally got a chance to get a few pics of my fender tags. I know some of you are pretty knowledgeable on these and enjoy decoding them. Thanks for you help.

Top to bottom... 78 New Yorker Brougham, 76 Town & Country, and 67 Imperial LeBaron.

Under the left screw on the NYB is M45 I took out the right one which was covering M25

Your bottom tag decodes like this:

YM43 = Imperial Crown 4-door hardtop
81 = 440 ci 350 hp single exhaust
5 = Automatic transmission
207 = Feb 7 1967 build date
835 = Tires 7.75 x 15 whitewalls (x5)
33455 = SO number

AX 2 = 2.94 gear ratio, not a SureGrip
H9X = High trim level, split leather/vinyl bench seat, black
FF1= Light Green Metallic paint
B = Upper Door Frame paint color B is Black

D9 = Disc Brakes front/Drum Brakes rear
J5, K8, L9 = Power Brakes, Locks, Windows, Steering, Bench Seat
R4 = AM radio search/tune

b6 = Shoulder Belts (?)
d6 = rear seat speaker
g6 = Bumper reveal Moulding
h7 = Fender-Mount Turn Indicators
j0 = Beltline Moulding
k7 = R/H manual operated mirror
u1 = Sold Car/Expedite

The others that I did not list are ones that I do not know the meaning of.

This is my first decode of a 67 Imperial so I'm spitballing here....

Does the car have these options:

J/5= Power seats? Were the H9* seats power seats standard?
K/8= Power Windows
l/9 = Power window vents
N/8 Power trunk release (does the car have this?)
Q/9 = tilt telescope steering wheel (does the car have this?)

b/6 = does the car have seat belts for a center passenger in the front?

For comparison I can help confirm most of what you guys have for the '67. Here's mine and how I've decoded it.
b5-rear armrests w/ashtrays
d6-rear seat speaker
e8-buffed paint
g6-bumper reveal moulding
h7-fender turn signals
j0-belt moulding
k7-r.h. Manual mirror

D9-front disc RR drum
J5-l & r power seats
K8-power windows
L9-power vents
Q9-tilt/tele
R4-am search tune
W3-?
X1-tinted all
Y7-vinyl roof-white

AX-2.94 open
TRM-M3A = medium, vinyl/leather buckets, gray/black
PNT-AA1 = silver monotone
UBS-nothing for the U, nothing for the B which is strange because it has buffed paint and its a stripe delete car.
81-440/350
5-auto trans
835-7.75x15 whitewalls
823-August 23' '66 (very early) sequence-101769

what do you suppose the W3 is?

Matt,

b/5- gut feeling this is not rear arm rest code. That would not be consistent with coding on other cars or plants. Does your car have an extra set of seat belts for the front center passenger? Are there separate holes required in the floor pan of a 67 Imperial for the belt attachment bolts or does the third passenger seat belt attach to the regular seat belt mounting points??

W/3 - gut feeling this is an Imperial only code or a Jefferson Plant only code. It's a valid code but probably only used on low production vehicles making it hard to source. (this is why guys like me always want more tags...to compare, contrast and research topics just this like this) At first glance it seems to track with *8* and *9* interiors but more research is required.

Typically, fender tag codes are used for paint, interior and when there was a deviation from standard body in white. Commonly, the code relates to punching a hole, or different size/spacing of hole, somewhere on the body (radio, moldings, fender mounted turn signals, seat mounting points, center arm rests,) or variations to the BIW like A/C firewall or radiator yoke size. So in sourcing unknown codes like this, we need to think if there was a model specific change to the BIW to add something. That may help us source the code.

No extra seat belts Doug, only 4 positions in the car have belts.

Thanks Patrick looks close but no cigar...lol mine is YH for LeBaron it doesn't have the b6 shoulder harness, or power locks, I wonder what they mean by upper door Frame color black... mine is a hard top.
It's getting close though:)

Mine has every thing except the seat belts for the front center passenger. Thanks

Very interesting stuff guys!... hopefully all this research and input will help everyone try to decode these things. Lots of fun to learn how these were put together Thanks to all!

The only thing wrong is that Mine does have vent windows, but it did come with atc II....but....was retro fired before I got it:)
Where does mine fit in to the last one built thread?
Thanks Bob!

After reading that interesting post from Matt and his link...It seems that there is still some confusion on the body style of our 67 Imperials, it would appear that d-body is out of the running, however they could be considered a c-body or a y-body...due to the vin code..hmmm

We need some old fart that actually worked for Chrysler during these years to sort this out LOL

It's getting close though:)

My upper door itself on my '66 Coronet hardtop is black, and has the same code. That is what that means. The inside upper portion of the door is painted black,

Also, that is why I put a (?) next to the annotation for shoulder belts, as I was not positive of that meaning.

The real production date is on the silver decal on the driver's door. Your Ny'er was made about a week after my 78 Newport. Patrick's NY'er Salon is the last known C-body so far... I believe in late June.

I may have read the code wrong for the windows......
