That cartoon originally ran in 2004-5. It made more sence then, but i'm sure many people don't even get the reference to Poland.

Germany invaded Poland in 1939 (unprovoked) and started the atrocities that started WWII.

The 2nd part of the joke was about Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz AG in 1998 that turned out to be a disaster.
