Heads Up Re Facebook

Best argument against Facebook and all this Facebook crappola I have ever seen.

It's not an argument against Facebook. Facebook is awesome, by the way. So much amazing content and it's simple to filter your content so that you see only the stuff you want to see.

Facebook also recently made changes that when you do make postings only a fraction of people on your friends list see them. This is also true of pages put up by small businesses that are looking for exposure, i created a page for my book only to find that if i wanted to "Promote" or advertise the page i would have to pay for the privilege. i sent out almost six hundred requests for people to look at the page but talking to more and more of them they just didn't get it. I have also noticed that recently the number of postings showing up on my page has dropped dramatically since the latest "update."

EVERYTHING on Facebook is there for a malicious reason. There is nothing on there that you should be taking at face value. It's not just a few evil things. Everything about Facebook is evil.
You're all sheep blindly grazing while....

I just use it to track a few friends and acquaintances. Not sure what risk is there. I suspect if someone wanted to steal my identity bad enough there is little I could do to prevent it aside from staying off the internet completely.

I speak on Facebook only in loud rantings using excagerated doomsday scenarios and grossly over the top examples. It's to make people listen to what I'm saying by hitting them between the eyeballs with a 2X4.
Using FB will not get anybody roused out of bed at 3:00AM and be led to a ditch, give Ahmad Azzerahat access to terrorize your city, nor let evil do-gooders send you 100 Ginsu Knives from late night infomercials.

My real point is, FB and Google is so interconnected to the internet, that with enough savvy, I can find out you hooked up with an ex-girlfriend, subscribed to tripplexporn.com, and were once thrown in jail for kicking a puppy to death.

Is anybody getting my drift here?

Thank you FB, Google, and all the infinite databases on you that are monitored by FB and Google.

By the way, I sincerely in ll my heart want everyone to appreciate how good a human being Ross is.
This not a joke. He really is a good guy.

100% agreement. Facebook and google are not your friends! They may say they resist the fed Intrusion, but they say nothing about THEIR
Intrusions. The ships off the coast of San Diego owned by Google are there for a reason.

Damn I'm good lookin. Yep, my LinkedIn profile is public. That's the whole point. Still not scared.

Including craigslist spam.... You could get your fill here. The amount of cars they find make you guys look like amatures.

And if you're worried about facebook and the googiles being data mined with gov't and NGO's knowing everything about you, you're doing it wrong. There's a whole 'nother interwebs you've yet to explore.

Thing is as soon as you turn your internet on you can be tracked, there are plenty of IP address search downloads available to anyone a bit savvy on the subject. Once they have your IP address they know your physical address, once they got that they know what size house you live in, what you paid for it, how many cars you own etc etc etc. The point is, there's no need for google or Fb to track you, if someone wants to know about you, then they already know. If you are plugged into the net, then you are a part of the Borg, welcome.

My next door neighbor can receive my wi-fi.
He also worked at the high levels of investigative work for the FL Law Enforcement Dept.
He is now a P.I. with every software that you don't even know that exists.
Including P/W crackers.

Good morning, John. Looks like another beautiful day. How's Cindy?

I can receive wifi from everyone in my subdivision .. can't access though unless they fail to pw protect it. Now if you are saying he can hack into your network and get on your computer that's another matter.

One of the neighbors used to have an open connection I would use when my power and router went down .. he finally pw protected it damn it
