There's a small glitch to their claim to fame on the quarter mile.
Being a sub 9.99 (is it still 9.99?) car, it's not allowed on an NHRA strip in as-delivered street form.

So what's the dealer markup on these things?

Most tracks will let you make ONE pass. If you are sub 10.00 you are kicked off the track without a cage and a few other safety features.

However, I heard rumblings that NHRA won't let the cars race at their events.

I was at a Dodge dealer yesterday....salesman said Demon's are $80k or better.

I also heard that production of Hellcat's are coming to an end and the prices will drop drastically on the remaining Hellcat's. I've seen a few new ones in the low 50's.

Doesn't that usually drive up the price?
200's and Darts excluded...

I guess they are going to mass produce Demon's so I guess the go fast crowd isn't interested in the slower Hellcat's anymore. The guy at the Dodge dealer said that they expect a number of Hellcat owners will want to trade to get the Demon so I imagine if they devalue the Hellcat the profit margin on the Demon will be extremely high.

The salesman at the Dodge dealer yesterday was saying he could get me in one of their Hellcat's for $54k.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMAZING!!!!!

( Okay just see its allready posted by Steve in a other thread......... )

This is crazy, we Germans set the cruise control to 160mph when we go on vacation and here someone goes to jail for it lol
I did enjoy driving in Germany when I was on tour. Unfortunately I was driving the tour van which had all the performance characteristics of a garden tractor on a spring mattress.

Hellcat owners are calling my local Dodge dealer already wanting to trade up for a Demon!

Yeah, but they have WAAYYY stricter traffic laws, and very heavy fines in Germany, and I believe you have to take a lengthy driving test there to get a licence.

Everyone in Germany (except GI's) have to go to driving school for months and it costs thousands of Euro's.

GI's just have to take a written test (given by American's) and you get your USAREUR driver's license. Even U.S. dependents only have to take the written test.

That cost seems rather burdensome to recent immigrants and the poohr. Germany doesn't have a branch of the ACLU, huh?

Actually yes on the license, that's lengthy cause you gotta have a certain amount of hours of driving expierience and that's what makes it so expensive too. And oh well, public transportation is so good there that you actually really don't need a car. I paid €2500 for my license btw. But that's lifetime til you bite the dust, no renewals or anything. Normally a kid turning 18 has accumulated that in savings til then, getting the license with 18 is like..... Getting **** face on your 21st here ...

However, Id say the traffic laws are equal to here, it might seem more cause everything on the road there is told to you by signs (what to do not to do and who's got the right of way).

Fines.... Are laughable. 20over cost you 15 bucks or so but that depends really on what the speed limit was, they determine that also on the speed, road driven on, weather conditions and so on. Evaluating the endangerment to other so to speak. But unless you go 200 in a 100 zone (which probably makes you walk for a month and gets you points and maybe 300bucks fine). But no jailetime. Jail is for criminals, not traffic violators. My cousin got a speeding ticket here while visiting (he went from la to Vegas and pushed it to 110mph for a short stretch, even tho I warned him that those Americans are crazy on the speeding lol) He had to pay a hefty hefty multiple hundred bucks ticket just for going 110 instead of 80 on an empty straight stretch in the desert. On a road like that, Germany probably wouldn't even have a Speedlimit.

I gotta say, all those years I drove in germany, I never had a run in with police, let alone seeing police as often as I do here, they don't just sit by the side of the road waiting for someone to zip by too fast, they don't have time for that nonsense.
