I was driving a 69 SuperBee when Gremlin's were new......
The Gremlin was introduced to the Public on April 1, 1970. Yes, people thought it was a joke. It did, however, beat the Pinto and the Vega to market, so it was America's first Sub-compact car. I've liked them since I rode in my first one in 1972. Unlike both of those cars, it came with a 6 banger, not a four. Did not have a 4 until '76.

Interesting fact, at 23 gallons, the Gremlin had the largest gas tank of any AMC car!

But the back seat is almost non-existent. I have a hilarious photo on my home computer with my son sitting in that seat... while he's holding the steering wheel!
