Hello from germany / 440 New Yorker

Hello from NYC, I just recently changed my leaf’s along with a fresh axel rebuild on my 77 NYB. Leaf bushes are easy to swap. May need to spray some lube of your choice to make for an easy extraction, put a long screw driver through one side to knock out the opposite side. Wash rinse and repeat the other 3 side bushings.. clean the ports out real good and then use some rubber friendly grease and install new bushings..

Helo ladies an gentleman,

here comes my introduction and i'll introduce my Chrysler New Yorker:
Yeaaaa. I realize that the 1973 front isn't for everyone. Or the 4 doors. But for me it's just the right thing :)! The car is an 100% Survivor. Nothing changed, except the radio.
So far I haven't found anything that's messed up or screwed up. Paint original, vinyl roof ok except for 2 small spots (nothing crunchy), trunk no water ingress/rust.
~76,500 MLS, credible but not verifiable.

I live in germany (Koblenz) and bought my NY in April 2023. It came from Athol, Idaho to Europe in Dec. 2021 and got his german historic car licence in 2022.

Pictures taken at the TÜV for an appraisal. Everything worked fine (except heating + air conditioning). He actually got a VIN engraved on the front of the frame, I hadn't even seen it before.
I'm amazed at how good it is after 50(!) years without a restoration :)

The Big Block ist spending WAY to much gas (at least 11,48 Gallons per 100 mls(US)) The ignition adjustment via the vacuum unit works again (replaced it).

Ignition is flashed warm with transmission in N and ignition timing deducted. Well in cold and only 5min time he was at +5 degrees instead of -10. That COULD explain the thirst.
Distributor twisted a bit... flashed off...-10+/-2.5 check. Immediately run more powerfully. But could only test 1km.

Then he got a dashboard cover for a fortune, because the original dashboard is still great after 50 years and should stay that way. I think the carpet is cool :D

Very very cool: got a lot of tools for free today  ! Saved from scrap, a lot of Hazet and Made in Germany!
Soooooooooooo far. I'm glad to hear from you! I wrote a letter to the last owner in the US and I hope he gets in touch. Greetings Manuel
the car came from Spokane and was sitting there for a long time before my buddy Paul brought it just for fun he had the car for 2 years and my other friend Tony in Germany brought it from Paul i was the middle man. your new yorker was listed for a long time on craigslist before Paul picked the car up.

Following the title it was sold for 3000$ in the USA, reached a value of ~7000€ due to transportation and duties and was sold with oil changed, historic licence (expensive over here) for 14.000€ in Germany.

Runs without vibration am drives very well. What bothered you while looking it?
we always put low value on the bill of sale because of taxes we to pay here in the us. here in washington state we pay used car tax and is around 10% of the amount you paid for the car and if the DMV ( zullasungs stelle ) is not believing you they go by kelley blue book value. Tony paid way more than $3000 for the car

Thank you!!! :)!!! Well 14k ist still a good deal for an full size c Body 440. I can recognise the fun they had...maybe they drove around the quarry ;)?

Did he got my letter? And do have an old link?

Some pictures may help with your quest in changing your Leaf bushings. The oval bushings are the front and the others are the rear.. of course I pulled the whole axle to replace it, you won’t have to go that far.. BUT close. Lol

I've bought this ones: No oval one, round. The '73 bushing seems to be a little different. 2x DAYTON RB60 and 8x DAYTON HB889. Rockauto listet for my car. Normally everything from there fits.

Every European Mopar driver knows this problem... only parking lots for small cars ;)

Now that’s funny.. parking a Whale among the Minos..

I understand the bushings maybe different among the years.. I mentioned for reference.. hope it helped.

if you order an 440 Decal for 34$(!) on eBay...wait weeks for it...open up the package and... thanks for nothing.

Is it already asking too much to really watch THREE NUMBERS on an international shipped product???

2.5" or 3" pipes?

Hp manifolds don't provide much, if any, improvement over log manifolds. They are rared at 5hp more, with a different cam than years previous. They are better at cooking your gaskets though!
Yes. Stock manifolds. Unfortunately the low performance ones

Easiest to change if you remove the springs, and if the springs come apart even better to just handle the top leaf spring.

Once they are out I use fire to cook the rubber bushing until it gets soft enough to push out the bushing and inner metal insert, then just use a small chisel to deform the outer shell and bang it out. You can also use a hack saw to cut through the shell and then tap it out with a hammer and punch. Then install the new bushings either using a press or you can do it with a large bench top vise.

On a press just have a spacer that goes over the bushing end and only presses on the outer shell....so hole in the middle and tall enough to not push on the center...then just lube up the outer shell and spring ID and press it in. If using a vise, same thing a spacer that presses on the outer shell, and a large socket on the back side of the spring, lube everything and then just start turning the vise in....should slide into place.
