Hello from the Dark Side (DRK SD 73)

She looks tough enough to me. Did the vertical stripe come with the car or did you add that?
Sorry, I didn't scroll back far enough. I have my answer. Great looking car!
Originally GY9, no stripe. The last owner before me repainted Medina dark red metallic, and added the stripe. Unfortunately, he had the latter painted -- it it had been a mere tape, it would have been gone the day I got it. One day, I will have the car repainted in the original GY9 -- that may be next year, or the year after.

Good lookin ride!

Are you a pontiac guy also?

I take it the "dark side" refers to Pontiac full size cars (GM B Body Platform)....basically if you migrate over to those models from the Firebird, GTO, Grand Am, LeMans, or Tempest scene, you are said to be going to the dark side.

Correct. I was a darksider for many years, wait, I still own a few big pontiacs.

I had some upholstery work done and found a piece of the car’s history.
I’m planning on entering the car in its first show next week.

@69CoronetRT and @cuda hunter should be delighted to see the build sheet of CS23T3C240862 -- nice find, and great to see the seats redone.

The seat looks great. The next time we chat, we should compare notes on fabric sourcing and upholsterer choice.

Great match on those seats! Really does look great!
Thanks for posting the build sheet!

That is a SWEET looking ride!

Thank you for the compliments guys. If it helps anyone else out I purchased my upholstery from SMS Auto Fabrics.
Part # 1973 Chrysler Cloth 72-2026
It’s not cheap (like everything else on these cars) but it was a great match.

A good Saturday morning project. I saw someone do this on YouTube and liked the way it looked.

I happen to like the bumper guards on the 1973 Chryslers and Imperials, but @78Brougham will be delighted by your removing them!

I prefer the clean look, like your ‘72.
Rear, I agree. Front, to my eyes they go well with the massive 1973 bumpers and grille. When Ming is back on the road, we can compare.

As a former '73 owner, I'll admit that it looks clean sans nubs, although I did appreciate them. Very handy for pushing things with the car, or being pushed....

I would love to you as soon as I find the hardware

--> This seller has one of the two butterfly screws / nuts that you need:

--> I found a second butterfly screw (P/N 602 8934) here, no price as of yet. IMHO it's worth a call: Inventory - Page 2996 of 3296 - Brad's NOS Parts

PS: Here is what it looks like installed (not on my cars). @marty mopar lists here all the info about what other parts may be needed, with the caveat that the info he provided was for a 1978 Newport (the butterfly is the same, other parts may not be).
