A while back I read and article that said you can restore life to plastic pieces by boiling some water. Once boiling take the water off of the heat and put the plastic parts in it. Apparently the longer you leave them in the hot water the better the results.
We had some plastic buckles at work that were snapping on us. I didn't have boiling water so I just soaked them in a bucket of hot water for about 4 hours. The rest of them worked without fail. I was just as surprised as everyone else that it actually worked.
