Well, couldn't help myself when I saw this pop up on Craigslist. It's a 1966 Sport Fury Factory 383 HP / 4 Speed car. It is quite rough, but I love it! It's an absolute blast to drive (when it doesn't get stuck in reverse!(hence the missing cover)). The main bracket holding the shifter together is broken. The dash pad is thrashed, the interior is lousy, and the paint is a 33 1/3-footer at best. It is gonna take a lot of work to get it where I want it. On a brighter note, the frame is very solid, and the body is not too rusty. I am not sure if the driver quarter is rusty (or bondo?), or it is just from the terrible paint. Some immediate items on the To-Do list are: Fix the speedometer, fix the trans, put a fan shroud on the radiator (it overheats), new dash pad, brakes (work, gonna triple check 'em), trim, lights (cracked, but work) etc. It's gonna be fun! I will need a new windshield, some trim, taillights, seat covers, a fan shroud, and a dash pad. I will post updates whenever stuff is done.

Nope. I don't think so. I bought it from Garland, Texas.

Nice find, congrats!

I didn't pay to much attention until I saw the Third pedal take a pic of the whole interior id you can Awesome car.

Oops. Thought I posted interior pics...

So I looked under the rear seats today, and couldn't find a build sheet. Are there any other common places to look on '66's? Also, any ideas on production numbers for 4 Speed '66 Sport Fury's with 383's?

The seat backs of the front seats, under the carpet, under the the dash pad.

Interesting. What is the difference? Since this is an early built '66, (built in '65) could it have that speedo from the factory?

Sorry i dont have a better pic on my tablet here at work, but mine was born in Dec 65 as well. You can see how the trim runs below the speedo on the 66 dash. The signal light indicators are behind the speedo glass.

Hey, nice score. Any engine shots? As stated earlier, you can tell a '65 speedo by the turn indicators at the base. Another '65 indication is that the center "window" below the odometer (that is used for auto trans shift indicator) has the Plymouth rocket symbol in it, like on the horn hub. Canada-built '66 cars may have come with the '65 speedo, but I may be remembering that wrong. My car is an 11/65 build and has the same type speedo that 1Fury1 has.

Only a couple. I will try to get some more and maybe a video of it running tomorrow. Also, this car was built September 26th, 1965.

I checked the adjustment of the vacuum advance canister and it was turned all of the way "in." That's the way that I find most of them. They're way too sensitive when screwed down fully. I set them to ~2, 2 & 1/2 turns out to begin the timing recurve process and go from there. In my world, they should not be all the way advanced until about two inch/Hg below cruising vacuum.
