I have owned this car many years, its a 1951 Desoto. I am hoping to get it out of a long indoor storage at my brother in laws business, where it has been sitting for the last 4 years, untouched. I guess it could be considered an ancestor to a c-body.

Excellent DeSoto you have there.

I hope you can enjoy driving her as often as possible.

Thank you,

Looking forward to driving it again, I had parked it because I was having trouble with the "fluid drive gyro matic" semi automatic transmission in it.

What sort of problems?

I was having problems with the automatic up and downshifts when you let off the gas for it to shift automatically, I am thinking is more of a electrical problem than a mechanical problem.
This may help.

This is from 1949, but I know that it is pretty much the same as my '53 Windsor. I've been able to buy a new solenoid and interrupter switch.

Sweet ride! A co-worker had a Chrysler with that transmission, they sound pretty cool, especially for the era they were in. He would start in 1st and get it going and put it in high gear.

Get that out on the road!

THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL DE SOTO, YOU CERTAINLY DO NOT SEE MANY OF THOSE AROUND ANYMORE. WOULD YOU CONSIDER SELLING IT?

Thank you,

I am not sure if I want to sell it, I have owned it since 1991. But I have decided that I am moving out of Connecticut in the next few months and am selling off some of my cars, I sold three of my old cars this and last weekend (2 of them I had restored for my ex wife to get her into the old car hobby). I am looking to buy a 67 or 69 fury or a 69 Monaco/polara but may have to wait after the move. Let me think about it, how much would you want to spend for the car?
