How would you finnish the motor of a surviver car

i'm not convinced....... A full detail of the engine and compartment is not going effect the survivor status to speak of. And its a guarantee you'll be happy every time you raise the hood. Besides it's a good reason to replace anything that may be an issue while in use.

i completely agree

Clean, repair, drive

Im more of a repair, drive, clean only when the weight of the dirt is affecting mileage... and usally not even then. Id pull the engine and rebuild it but probably wouldn't have painted it. You call it grime, I call it patina

I didn't think we were talking about a daily driver here..... I drive my cars probably more then most, but thats no reason for it to look like a used car.
There is a lot of gradification to be had by bringing one of these old cars back to it original glory, even if just a small area of it.
Yep .... driving is fun. But the threaputical aspect of hands on improving your car is worth a lot, IMHO

As always, the question is where to stop and how the whole pic looks. I'd give the whole surrounding a very thorough cleaning. Depending on how the peripherie looks as in Matt's Imperial for example it was the right decision to repaint the engine as the compartment itself is pretty clean. If the compartment looks considerably worse the repainted engine will look out of place or you will also have to detail the compartment.

That said, an engine or compartment with a small fraction of original paint still intact is no "sin" to do over, I would have an issue with this iextraordinary white 30 k mls 300 of one of the other members for example.

Have you ever seen a motor this clean inside that has only run non detergent oil its whole life ?

A hell of a lot cleaner than my engine when I removed similar items from the block. Now the fifty dollar question how far are you going to go in the engine cleaning/restoring?

Its really too bad chrysler didn't spend more time developing those heads a set of those built around the BB should have been the logical replacment for the hemi as things where winding down

Reassemble with no paint or touch up i can do a complete restoration at anytime only Original Once.
I am also using 85% of the material in redoing the front seat the original back seat is missing and have no other choice .

short answer ..................................................... Clean up & Tune up only

You will be out enjoying yours, while I am still trying to get everything back together. :eek:ccasion14:

Good on ya. I was going to suggest;

Option 5; Drive the hell out of it who cares what it looks like.

Me, I'm stuck in never ending circle f*&% logic. (Fix one issue find another) and may never get to drive this thing.

Do you have a poly 4bbl intake.....? Do you have two.......? I need one for my 61 Fury
The correct one is #2206384

I have a cast iron intake that I bought to do a conversion to 4BBL for my 318 Poly. Never got around to it and now I don't think I'm going to do it. I don't remember how much I paid but it was pricey.

The engine turned out good. you can always do more if you so desire in the future. how does it run?
