Hurricane Mathew pics

The town is still under curfew here and the bridges are closed, still a lot of flood waters around.

good to hear, though people are the most important thing, terrible we had more deaths than any other state. I made out well and lucky. just a leak in the garage due to poor driveway design and probably the original garage door seal. off work last few days so had time to dry it out. Marlene the cat made it fine too...View attachment 96671 View attachment 96672 View attachment 96673 View attachment 96674 View attachment 96675 View attachment 96676

Dale
Glad you made it through ok, Dale... nice cars...

I have been pretty busy all week so not up on all the news. My dad called last night & said the Dam on Falls Lake in Raleigh was damaged by the recent Hurricane & is leaking. Engineers installed a flow meter on the breach & will decide what to do. If they can't fix it they will have to drain the lake to make repairs. If they drain the lake they will have to open the gates & let it rip. All that water is headed east directly to the already flooded areas. A controlled flow of course. It's a tough call. Or is it. You can't let the damn break.

I have no envy for those involved in all that... what a mess. I hope your people are safe.

Well the river here in Greenville is a foot below the top of the highest bridge here, every evening they are still closing roads to traffic around the flood zones. I havent been able to get to many places yet and there are still a few places closed too. You better run up there and stop that lake being drained Bob! This means you!

I know it buddy. If that Dam breaks it will wipe out Wilson, Tarboro & every other small town in its path. I think they have some time as long as the flow meter stays within a certain range. Give you guys time to dry out. They had to open the gates in 96 after Hurricane Fran. My Uncle lives in Nashville, NC. He drove me around years later & there was still abandoned houses that had flooded. You could see the water marks/stains way up near the roof. They where worried the Dam could break & had to relieve pressure on it.
