That's exactly the way the Texacos looked when I worked there in my teens.

No body speaks correct English at the Texaco I stop at, I ALWAYS pump the gas myself despite the NJ law. Hows that for hope and change?

Never heard that before and I agree with Bob, time to lose the jackets!

Nj has a state law that requires the gas attendant to pump your gas. Technically you are not allowed to do it, but I've never heard of anyone going to jail over it. I pump my own gas all the time b/c I don't want flunkies spilling gasoline on the back of my car or pumping the wrong octane. Furthermore, most people (more women than men I will concede, but I don't see many guys pumping their own gas here either) would rather not pump their own gas anyway -- at least in jersey, and esp. when its really cold outside.

That's interesting, I wonder why? I can think of 1 station in the area that even has a full service option.

The ones left with full service in my area haven't changed since the 70s including the attendant. :)

Is there even a Texaco left in Jersey? I pump it myself too, I'd rather go to the Wawa, being Privately American owned but they have a fit if you pump it yourself, so I go to Achnod at the corner

Full Service is not an option, but full service is pumping gas, thats it.

Believe it or not gas in Jersey is some of the cheapest in the country because of a low gasoline tax. A lot of people out of work if they lost gas attendant service.....also Big Brother doesnt think jersey people can intelligently make the switch, and their probably right

There are few Texacos left...couple in Voorhees....one further south of my area.

The thing about WaWa is I keep hearing the gasoline is not what they claim it to be....its dirty, not the octane level that is listed on the pump, blah blah...that is why they can under cut all the other "mom & pop" stations. I don't know one way or the other, yet I keep hearing this mummer from various sources, I don't know if its right or just vicious innuendo Nevertheless, I stopped going to WaWa if I can help it after that little incident I was involved in two autumns ago.

The Wawa down there is 20 cents more than the Wawa's here. The towel head stations here are all cheaper than the Wawa. I have it on the best of authority that it all comes from the same refinery and storage tanks anyway....

Hell if know....but I don't do WaWa if I can help it. Usually Shell, Texaco and Exxon sometimes.
