So being laid up recooperating from Hernia repair has got me shopping. I kinda don't want to buy a newer truck, but I'm getting old and so is keeping a 35 year old truck running every day.
    What do you think?
Anyone have any leads on other trucks for sale?
I have about run out of YouTube stuff to watch and not quite up to reassembly of my 440 for the Barracuda and front suspension and brakes are out for sure on Charger till innards feel less likely to pop out.

Hope you’re recovering well. I had a double hernia operation in 2009. One side was virtually pain free but the other side felt like they left a scalpel in there for about 3 weeks. Funny story the morning I went in for the surgery there were two nurses standing there, a typical 30 year seen and done it all type, and a young hot blonde intern. I prayed that the old lady would be the one to prep and shave me, but noooo they sent in the blonde and I had to watch her work down there while thinking about grandmothers, forty below, anything but what was going on. Anyway for what it’s worth I got through the recovery without buying a Peterbilt.

They gave me a I don't care shot. Rolled me in and had me slide over to the table, put the mask on and a couple of breaths later 2 1/2 hrs. we're gone.

Too pretty. If I didn't know better, I'd think this was for sale by Lakeland Lash.

If you are going to buy, you might as well get that 300" WB you want.

That is the other side of the argument. For a third of what that thing cost, and now having a certified structural welder in the family I can have my cake and eat it too. Decisions, decisions.

    Very pretty truck.

I really like the blue frame, but I wonder if they did any prep work on the frame and chassis before they painted it or is the paint likely to start peeling off after a year or so? I'm also afraid of the Cummins ISX engines. They are such a mixed bag when it comes to reliability. Some are great and others are big time problem childs. This one has already had head/cam issues. A friend of mine had one in his tri-axle and had zero issues over the 600K miles and 13 years that he drove it. Others have had major problems with multiple cam failures, oil pressure issues, failed fuel pumps that wipe out the entire engine, short-lived and very expensive turbos and actuators, stuck piston rings from excessive soot, and the list goes on.

On the flip side, I have almost that much money invested in my Sterling, and it still needs another $20K in repairs that it's not going to get. Basically, trucks are money pits, and since you're going to have to dump money into a truck, it should be a nice one that you really like.

    Jeff

I dunno. Seriously, who Armoralls the air bags. I do not have good vibes about it.

The ISX programed to 600 hp with 3/4 of million miles under it's belt is problematic also.
