I've been hearing about a cruise night in Perrysburg Ohio which is one town over from my wife's hometown of Rossford. At the same time, I would like to replace the rear bumper on my 1978 NYB Salon, which although completely rust free, suffers from heavy rust between the inner bumper reinforcement and outer chrome face bar.

Made contact with Murray and we will meet up at about 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. This afternoon I pulled my old bumper apart to make sure it will break down easily at his place. It's a damn shame because the Chrome is really nice except for the bottom 3-4 in. Does anyone in the Detroit area need something from Murray? I'm coming back with a pretty empty trunk.

Also, regarding my potential carboned-up valve affecting compression test readings... I noticed there are a bunch of products out there due to carbon issues on gasoline direct injection engines. I decided to take a gamble on a $14 can of gunk carbon remover. Rather than sit there revving the thing at idle, I decided to take advantage of the 10-ft long hose and combine it with an Italian tune-up consisting of WOT runs on a secret strech of I-94. I can't say that I notice any real improvement in idle, but supposedly it can take many further miles of driving. It definitely fed into the carburetor because even a small tap on the dispenser button would instantly affect idle. I did some revving in the driveway afterwards and it blasted carbon onto the cement, something I've never seen it do before. So maybe something did loosen up. In any event it's going to get a good chance tomorrow morning when I blast down to Ohio. I shall post photos after I return.

PS: am I an outlier for removing my hood if I plan on spending a bunch of time underneath it? I also used this as a chance to give a quickie detail job. I sure wish I had taken before and after photos, it was quite a dirty mess. Did a little wiper maintenance while I was there, cleaned up the firewall and the half-assed lean burn conversion.

You need some Fender covers while working on your New Yorker !
PS Nice Seats.

I appreciate the thought, but the paint is pretty much a memory at this point. I'm just getting at the mechanical issues knocked out before I redo it. Seats on the other hand are incredible!

Perrysburg is 10 minutes from my house, I've done the show often, it usually gets a real good turn out. I can't make it tonight tho, too bad, we could have met up

I shall post photos. It will be like you were there in two dimensions.

Here we go. First photo is heading down to Murray's place in Tiffin Ohio. If you ever find yourself on Nadeau Road, exit 18 on I-75, it has not only the best Hardees I've ever been to, but one of the best fast food places I've ever eaten. Consistently.

Once at Murray's we swapped bumpers in a literal cornfield. My wife grabbed a photo of our son standing amongst a sea of luxury Chrysler products being swallowed by Nature.

Just to prove that we live not by fast food alone, here's a shot of our meal at Lupita's Cantina in downtown Perrysburg. Excellanté.

The rest are from the Perrysburg Cruise Night, one of the best I've ever attended. A tremendous variety of cars, body swaps, hot rods, muscle cars, oddballs, and of course the Corvette / mustang/ L car groups. Unfortunately we are getting late in the season, but I may go at least one more time with a different car and we'll definitely put this on my Friday night calendar for next year.

Yay, I made the official cruise photography page! I don't know what filter they used to make it so shiny, but I approve!
