Got this imperial dealership sign at a garage sale. Originally came from Jim Rose Chrysler Plymouth in Northern Calif.
Nice , some years ago there was a very big and rare neon Imperial sign for sale from the fifties iiac ; think it was 25000,-dollar.
I have the same one. Still works with the old style ballast and all. Probably my most prized Imperialabilia item.
I have been looking for the big outdoor Imperial sign panel for 30 years to no avail. The holy grail of signs. Probably all gone.
What a beautiful picture into the past. I wish the new car dealers still looked like this with those great cars.
I wondered about aquiring this exact sign myself. But even if one pops up it´ll be offered at 5k or more which I would never pay for a decoration article. So how hard can it be to build one ? You need to build a metal frame, cut plexiglass to fit into the frame, glue a color screen from the inside and cut out the lettering. Install some kind of LEDs or neon bulbs and voila ... I think it should be a way easier project than restoring a car
Good friend of mine who’s parents owned a bar back in the early 1960’s told me that when his parents did quit the business they tossed what is now valuable Coke and Beer memrobila in the dumpster. I’m sure the same happened with most imperial things once Chrysler dropped imperial in 1975
The signs were administered by a (possibly generic) sign company near the dealership. Or one contracted by Chrysler. That's usually where any old sign goes to be "archived", typically. Just some thoughts, CBODY67
