Looks nice but the top appears to be an upholstery shop special. Mileage not mentioned. Optimistic asking price for what the car is IMHO. Lot's of photos but none of the undercarriage.

Agree with the vinyl top not being factory. The thickness of the material, as evidenced by the way it tucks around the rear window molding, is not what was used back then. Definitely aftermarket, as the "Brougham" nameplate also seems to be. There were some "trim shop" vinyl roof packages of this nature, a while back. Like the non-factory cloth overlays of later times.

I did driver training in an Ambassador similar to that. Not as highly-optioned. It was a nice, smooth, decent car. Not very exciting to drive, but a good driver.

Would make somebody a good car for many more years, but not for $10K, to me. But then look at what $10K, even $12,995 will buy on the used car lot today!

Update the rubber hoses to ethanol-friendly ones. Make sure the tires are recent! Update the a/c to R-134a. And you're done for years, I suspect. Unless you want an updated radio . . .

I owned a '73 AMC Ambassador w/401 and Police Package and left it go around 1978. Man was that car spunky and like my '70 Plymouth Fury III ex-squad gets rubber out of second gear.

Those exhaust tips look really out of place on a stodgy 4 door sedan.

I like the exhaust tips on a 4dr, and these look tastefully done. It would get the attention of a lot of gear- heads as too how much punch Grandma's 4dr has.

I don't know why, but I love Ambassadors...

I tend to agree. They were "simple", but nice. Not opulent as an Imperial or Cadillac, but a little more restrained, as a Lincoln tended to be. Their vehicle engineering/designs were very simplistic, but worked pretty well.

I like a lot of AMC cars, this one included, but one thing that bothers me is that no matter how you climbed up their luxury ladder... No armrests on the front seat!?! Nobody in Kenosha had a right arm?

They were over built meaning in my opinion highly engineered. The exhaust should of come out behind the rear wheels and exit to the side. I remember hanging around Millers Skelly in Beaver Dam WI. in the mid to late 1970's. The owner had several AMC cars as AAA jump start vehicles. My favorite was a '66 Ambassador four door that he sold before being put into service. Some day I may get one.

Our high school driver ed car was a baby **** brown 72 Ambassador. I was used to driving my Dad's 68 300 by then and the Ambassador was a huge step down. Too much plastic and it drove like crap. You could tell it was a car that wasn't going to sell, so it got handed over to the high school.

Once, a girl that was driving put it on top of a snowbank before the teacher could react. There was another student besides me in the back seat. She said something about that was were she needed to get out anyway and walked away. The teacher wasn't real happy about it at all.

I once had a 1966 Ambassador sedan with the American Motors 327 and the Borg Warner automatic. It drove like a dream and is still one of my favorite cars that I've owned.

Nice looking car and well worth the price - if you're an AMC fan.

I'm an AMC fan but have always HATED that UGLY steering wheel!! I am so glad our Gremlin, being an "X," came with the optional wheel.

It is a nice AMC, but nothing really special, especially with an 360 2bbl setup.

Interesting auto fact: the AMC Ambassador was the first US Produced car to offer AC as standard. Yep! Look it up!
