During the interior restoration of my 4DSD I bought new repopped lenses for the sail panel lights that I added. The lenses from a parts car were really discolored and stained after 48 years.
Since I had replacements, I figured I would experiment and see if I could clean up the dirty ones.
So I let one soak for about 24 hours in the cheapest bleach that Dollar General sells. No scrubbing, just soak, rinse, and dry.
Here's what I ended up with:
They both looked identical before the bleach. So if you have a lens that's not reproduced and discolored, it might be worth a try.
Hope the input helps.
