Lenght of the shaft on intake valve?

I'm more of a stickler for getting things right. Be it my Massey Ferguson, my '63 Ariens, a customer's 496, or my step son's Stratus. So tossing stuff together that in my opinion has deficiencies doesn;t work for me. Everyone's different.
In terms of using one set or the other - if you're going to rebuild the heads anyway, do the 915s. They are a slightly better head, and with good performance rebuilding are a lot better. But - they will cost, just as the 516s will. Wear is usually pretty consistent. So is a screw up when it's not understood to be one. But the valve job and parts replacement will fix both. That is, of course, if you rebuild the 516s with new seats and valves... If you're not after doing it well, I guess it doesn't matter. But my goal is never to just "make it work", or duplicate a factory effort.
