MrMopar's 1969 California Highway Patrol restoration

You could spin the odometer on the 70 up Fury, 71 up Polara.... Ive pushed the R in my old 71 440 four door sedan, 2:76 rear . I had done it when it had a 400 in it too but wasnt as easy.
This photo is of my current 71 two door. stock 440. I was once a little closer to the 140 Mark on this one but Im losing my nerve

So Alan, unless I missed something, why did they have it? A CHP car that is
Just a cheap family cruiser, they had been buying them for years. Just the other day they were telling me about the 66 that they had. They knew the 69 was special and being Mopar people they kept it, they wanted to restore it someday.

Outstanding work and a tribute to determination and dedication.
However somewhere amongs't the pages I missed where and how the rear window rusty panel replacement was performed. Can anyone please direct me to the script, much appreciated.

On the first page of this thread.

I chose to replace the entire frame with portions of the INSIDE c-pillar along with the full Dutchman panel. I was able to get it in place by dropping the assembly into the trunk and lifting in place, I played with it over months to get it where I was happy with it, even then my body guy cleaned up some more.

I great many more picture on my website of it basicaly ready to be welded in.

THAT (!) is one hell of a repair!! You may not have done bodywork in this lifetime, but you sure as hell were a skilled body guy in a previous life. Or you've just got some mind blowing natural talent.

I think you could make money on that car. I would be willing to bet you could advertise it for photo shoots. Dress up in a police uniform (hat and pilot style sunglasses of course), and get those who own older cars, muscle car, hot rods, customs, restored, motorcycles, etc. to have someone take a photo of your car behind them with you at their door assumingly writing a ticket. Find a nice secluded stretch of road, set up a camera/tripod, and take a few pics (per customer recommendation on the angle/position of the camera angle) for a price. I'd pay for it. I'm thinking $40-$50 for 3 pics (2 in color & 1 B&W) would be a fair price and a real novel keepsake for us car guys.

Dusted the car off today and took it for a drive. Jalama Beach in the middle of some of the finest coastline in California and one of the best burgers, always a good drive.

Get any inquiries from current C.H.P. officers?
The car hasn't been shown yet, I did have it at the local office doing paperwork to run the stars. The handful of officers that saw it as it was loved it, comments are about the simplicity and space on the inside, size of the trunk and are overall impressed with the level of restoration.

Mighty fine!

I have my first CHP event on Wednesday and first show on Saturday and I'm still putting final details on the car.

First up was a reproduction oil filter, said to be a Wix.

Next up was a reproduction package with the door trim in it. These were shipped with the cars from Dodge and CHP left them in the car for the future owners to use, CHP did not paint my car so the trim was not installed, not sure if they installed them on the cars that they did paint. The trim was still in the car when I got it.
