My new '67 imperial lebaron

Thanks guys! I wanted to see if there was anything in the original three stripe available and even talked with a rep from Coker at Watkins Glen back in June at a race. He told me that those tires were probably made for the Imperial lineup exclusively. I guess they did that a lot back in the day. The only place to get them, according to him, was at a dealership, and once the dealers ran out of them that was it! So I did some searching and ran across these. They ride great.

That's interesting about the tri-stripes, I didn't know that.
Diamond Back has some variations on the tri-stripe.

I've been putting Connolly Hide food on the seats, let it sit in the sun with the windows closed and they've been coming back to life! Just too bad they already age cracked. I'll deal with it. One day I guess I'll have to have them replaced. At least the seat portion anyway. I don't know how hard it would be to replicate the backs. They look pretty good for now though.

I went on Imperial club. Thats where I got some different reviews about the idler arm. I'll just see if anyone else has some opinions before I pull the trigger on that $389 one. Its in the process of being registered Antique right now so I'm not in any big hurry.

I have personally seen seats that were FAR worse than yours are that have been brought back to look like new. Keep feeding them and as the hides get softer and softer, you can start to SAND the leather. Fine, fine grit and a gentle touch. You CAN make them look like new.

I went with the Moog 7014 on the idler arm.The $400 was not available either, so I ordered t the moog. When I looked at them side by side before I installed it, they were virtually the same. Maybe that's why they never tooled up to make the original...Who knows...We'll see how it handles.

The car developed a small leak from the carb. It's a Holley. Damn FSM, doesn't show the Holley 4bbl. Anyway, I'm need the accelerator pump. It seems to have developed pin holes in the diaphragm and started to drip on the intake. Any thoughts on what carb it is, and where to get a pump? I hate to have to see the snot-nosed kid at auto zone. "My computer doesn't go back that far"
Very common acc pump fits all 4150 4160 carbs. I believe it's the 25cc one. I have a 67 daily driver.

Those are some awesome looking tires! But.... You got to go with what you can afford sometimes... I think mine look pretty good, I wish I could have gotten those but I'm happy with what I have, gotta keep control on spending sometimes. Got way too many cars Gotta keep it real...LOL

As much as I would have loved tri stripes on my Imp I couldn't spend that kind of money either.

What a great find in a beautiful car. Have you contacted FirmFeel.com for your idler arm? I am very pleased with their quality and service.

Thanks for the link... but the problem was with the other end. I wish it was on that end...I found a bunch of kits to rebuild that end, but it was where it mounts to the center link that was bad.... so far the one from the later Imperials seems to be ok, there was only a whisker of a difference between the original and the replacement.

Yours would looks awesome with those too, but I'm with you on that Matt! In a perfect world, where money is no object, would be nice.... But I think I got as close as I could at better than half the price.

Whatever it takes just don't let that gals *** get cold ;)

Can I borrow this car for the weekend? Put the 60'' flat screen in the garage and just sit and watch TV from those seats :)

There used to be someone in my area who went around to dealerships and had equipment to 'cut' whitewalls into a blackwall tire. He could pretty much cut any width, or combo of widths, and they even had a dye or paint, if you wanted the whitewalls a certain color. Apparently, the sidewalls of tires are (were?) white beneath the blackwall on all tires, and during the manufacturing they could be made into whitewalls, or left black. That's why the whitewalls were not flush with the sidewall of the tire. I believe he also did the 'gold' electroplating, etc. He passed away some years ago, I never gave any thought to his equipment, etc., until now. If someone else has this set-up lying around, dual or triple stripes could be made on radials today, possibly.....
