My Next Victim

Making progress on it. Ready to start prepping and painting inside doors, jambs, trunk and engine compartment. Anxious to see the color!

Next step is put on all the sheet metal, paint the engine bay and then prep & paint the exterior.

All jamb'd and sheet metal all back on and adjusted. Break for the holiday and sand & paint the outside next week.

Dang that was quick... Yeah 1600$ for paint... lol

they are just hooking suckers and thats basically an insurance scam...

Like a lot of businesses... buy up the competition and/or corner the market, control the market, lock people in somehow, then start turning the screws on anyone you can...

The price of red pigment paint has risen to ridiculous levels is the past 18 months. The prep and paint is show quality. An all-in HQ paint job has materials costs including good clear coat approaching 2000.00 - 2500.00. That's no Earl Scheib paint finish.

All done with the final sanding. Just have to clean it up, mask and shoot! Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to be back up near 80 so I'll wait until then to paint.

Need a little help with the temperature in December even in Phoenix. 10 am and only 60 degrees.

The color really pops in the sun. A whole lot of mettalic! Pictures do not do it justice.
This has become one of my favorite paint colors, the way it absorbs shadows, and reflects light is awesome. It would be cool to have a ride in this hue someday.

Here's a picture of the color in the sun. Not sure how it will look but here goes.

Looks very close in the pictures. Does yours look close to the factory color Matt? If so this Octane red is different because it looks more like a candy color with pearl in it along with large flakes of mettalic. Nothing like a color from the 60's.
It is close but you can definitely see a difference quite easily. My paint was mixed to match the original and does quite well. You can see the new paint on the fender next to the old oxidized paint on the door.
