New to me 78 NYB on its way but please Don't tell my wife

I'm assuming you already checked with the Orlando warehouse...
Sent urgent PM to the Orlando warehouse yesterday. Waiting for reply.
I had ordered a set from Dante about a month ago but they tell me now that their source does not have any at the moment and are cancelling the order.

3/4 view passenger side. Had to invent holder/hanger for rear view mirror. I cheated and got lazy but just had to about taking dash apart for it’s removal.

Head on view from front where we were very careful to mask off the guts from overspray. I hate overspray, nothing makes a good paint job look crappy like visible overspray.

You can see color match here on the driver’s door where I had the boys paint to the inside edge of the door skin.

Here’s something interesting... a tag on drivers front fender with possibly a former owner’s name and number... from: dealer, club, other????? Anybody venture to guess?

Rear quarter view. Light orientation makes paint look darker than it is and pops the top. I think the Salons had a brighter silver than mine. This is a dead on match to the original paint in the trunk and inner doors. Some areas a bit discolored and yellowed very slightly. Should not be noticeable when all the trim is back on to distract your eye.

Looks sweet Javier.. is that cut and buffed yet, can’t tell from pics.
Not even close to cut and buffed. That’s the paint raw from Saturday. Waiting until Thursday to start that process but more likely next week.

Based on success of underside of trunk lid, I decided to paint underside of hood as it was a bit surface rusted and needing attention to protect it. Will also have it sprayed with wax oil inside when done. That will require a few holes drilled in it underneath but.... what the hell.

Underside of aforementioned trunk lid...

I have nothing but the highest admiration for the work Javier has poured into this gorgeous car. Probably the finest NYB out there.
Shame about the ThermoQuad, tho....
I agree bout the Thermojunk.. but he’s a purist, and even though he’s done a few upgrades, it’s all been within the brand and model options these cars will come with.

soldier on Javier soldier on!!

The shop that is doing work on your car, is the shop available to all of us or are these guys personal to you?

Auto Brakes Plus is the name. They are my friends. Ivan owns the shop. It’s open to anybody with money. I pay just like a very one else.

I do refer work there from other friends.

I also pay upfront for parts costs and out of shop work to ease the financial impact of my work to the business.

I just have a very minor interest to be able to use the lifts and other equipment at night and weekends; and get a little priority and a few other minor indulgences.....we’ve also become good friends. Although he and everyone else calls me Mr Salman.

I also buy lunch for everyone on Saturdays I’m there.

Business has been evolving since I started working with them; In part, due to my influence and work. They now do custom and specially resto work for others who have seen my cars there. I also help with business advice and some technical assistance ... when asked.

I also yell at the top of my lungs when I see them doing something stupid or dangerous to life safety... but much less so these days as the lessons do stick.

I guess you could call me the shop godfather.
