I recently just had the tires replaced on my 65 Chrysler 300. I want some feedback on the look and stance. The past tires were 225/75/14. The car looked great with these but being roughly 17 years old I thought it would be wise to replace them. I called a few local shops to see what they could get in. The new tires had to be white walls, had to be radials, and had to be 14" so I could keep the stock hubcaps. Of course my options were very limited. My only choice were uniroyal tigerpaws size 215/70/14. I'm still not too sure how I feel about the look. They ride nice and are quiet but they don't quite fill out the wheel wells like the taller tires I had before. They were only $90 each. I'm stuck with them now so I want to make the best of them. I wanted to get some opinions and see if there are any suggestions on changing the stance. I played around with adjusting the torsion bars a bit. I want to get it perfect before I get it align. I feel like the car sits too low. How high can I raise the body? or how much adjustment will the torsion bars allow?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I think it looks great. I'd lower it just enough that the top of the tread is hidden in the front.

I agree. Another inch or so up front and it will be fine. And this is coming from a guy that would normally say "put it on the ground".

Regarding the height adjustment, the drivers side adjusting bolt is sticking out much more than the passenger side bolt. However the front of the car is even on both sides. What reason would there be for the bolts to be uneven? When I look under the car I can see the driver side bolt actually sticking out from beneath the control arm and the passenger side can't be seen, I can feel it though. Being that is turned in more, how much can I turn these bolts? I am talking about tightening so I can raise the front some.

thanks everyone!

The car looks great...agreed that a larger tire would look better, but that's all they make now. Enjoy it!

The bolts are supposed to be seen and accessable. Can you put a wrench on the one thats hidden? Why they are uneven could be a number of things.

I like it. The 65/66 looks best when they are a little low.

The difference in your Torsion bar adjusters could be many different issues like someone has swapped in the wrong bar or things like that. It could also be that the one bar is adjusted in too far and is really holding the front end up. What I would do is take a turn out of one side and twist the other side a turn the other way. Drive it a bit and see if the car is even in height on both sides. If so.. lather, rinse, repeat until both sides are even.

I can fit the a wrench on the other side and turn it. Of course it seems a bit more difficult to turn that bolt than the other side. But it did turn and after I drove the car a few times the front did raise about 1/2" an inch. And both sides are leveled. Thats when I took these pics. I just want the front end at least another 1/2" higher to get the look I want. Is it easier to turn these if the wheels are off the ground? I may try what "big_john" suggested. Also I wonder if new front shocks would help raise it a smidge. I have no idea how old they are but they look rough. However when I do the bounce test the car seems to stabilize. Maybe a stiffer shock like KYB would help some. Wouldn't hurt that's for sure.

thanks for the feedback and compliments.

A stiffer shock wont help the stance, just help with the ride quality. Don't cut the new shocks free until you have them in place or you will be in one heck of an adventure. Definitely jack the car up when working on the torsion bolts. The torsions act like a spring and take the load of the car. Spray them with some PB Blaster or WD40 to help break them free.
