Opinion to rebuild carb or buy new, have a intake manifold leak to

OK turboomni so you admit to recalibrate and richen up that 600 to run good on a stock 440.
Proving my point with your post. Yet you and 6 others disagree with my post that says they are too lean. Why?
Cause they are calibrated to work with a POS Chevy? I don't know, but they work. Even the 500cfm works on a 440. I always slap on a 750cfm carb, cause that's what I have stocked up on. Got them nice and cheap so I haven't had to buy a carb in ages. But the 1406 600cfm carb will work, and dropping in metering rods isn't all that hard. Turn two screws, take out old rods, replace with new ride and turn the screws the other way. Took all of two minutes. Not a lot of thought involved.

Just replace gaskets, eliminate leaks..clean and rebuild the carb..meausure vacuum and fuel pressure. Adjust the ignition timing and a/f ratio...vacuum gauge is a good analysis tool. If there are no other issues..(lifters/ valves) you should be fine
