I'm painting my edelbrock valve covers because of the 1/2ass job the p/o did. Now I'm torn between polishing the fins and the lettering and not. I kinda like the painted fins.....what do you guys think?( remember to step out of the "keep it stock" box for this one)

Not so funny thing is I paid 140 for the painted ones and 6 months later my buddy gives me these!

Leave them solid black.
Wonder if I should start a poll!! Lol. I like the solid black because you don't ever see anyone do it to this style cover, I also like the polished or painted due to the contrast factor ! Mmmm.... Decisions decisions!

If you want some "thinking out of the box" why not media blast them to match the intake (less colors under the hood ) and paint the raised fins and logo black. Then when you put the breather etc on, your eye won't be drawn to a couple black bricks.

Not a bad suggestion. It's "outta the box" for sure. I'm painting the intake black tho. I'm going for a kinda "anti-shine" look. I am worrying everything will just blend in if its all black. Hard to say for sure, orange block, valley pan with black accessories on top.....mmmm

I have two big blocks and a Ford 302HI and I really like the intakes to match the blocks colors. Each to his own though. You'll have to use a good etching primer on the bare aluminum first or the paint won't adhere very long. And remember, when it comes to primer, less is more!
