It isn't red and damn it's expensive, that 15K starting price isn't even reserve.

yep, good points, Gary. Also wondered if it still could have been in an accident or had some rust repair, though I'd think not much in this case (?) Thanks.....

just a curious question, if that's mostly original paint, does anyone think it would buff out much nicer? Otherwise, it's fairly dull, though unrestored, original is nice...

Good question....

Since it's a one owner car, the paint thickness might still be pretty good. It probably never got a gorilla with a rotary buffer "used car prep" that a lot of cars had.

If it were my car, I'd wash it with Dawn detergent and then hit it with a clay bar and see what it looked like. Maybe use an orbital buffer with some mild polish or just some elbow grease and Collinite 840 pre-wax cleaner. Follow it with something like Collinite 845 and I bet it would look better than new.

John: This is pretty much what I did with the paint on my "Parts Car." It came out pretty good, but I'm gonna try it again with the products you mentioned.

BTW, you gotta change your avatar picture. . .

The Collinite stuff is pretty good. A lot of folks swear by all their products and especially the 845 wax. They have the best chrome polish ever... hands down, nothing is better... Liquid Metal Wax » Collinite

Myself, I've been using Zaino for years and just recently switched to Duragloss after reading that the Zaino is made by the same folks, using very similar formulas. It's half the price and I can buy it on Amazon.

It was either that avatar pic or Jimi Hendrix playing the accordion.

It is probably original paint that could buff out to be very nice. Too bad the seller didn't invest in that - it would help a lot. I say original because the car still has the 3 black pinstripes down the body side. Most repaints don't bother with those. And the match with the underhood seems quite good.

The big negative is the presence of Auto Temp 1, although he claims everything works - worth a question to him to make sure if you are interested. Otherwise, I would say his starting price is probably pretty good, especially with only 60K miles on it too. I would change the headrests to the oval factory ones (his car was probably built without them before they were requiered beginning with Jan. 1 1970 production vehicles) and added later.

That really does look like a car you could buy, buff and drive and enjoy. I hope he does well.

Those are the correct headrests for a 69 equipped with optional reclining seats. Same as Imperial. If just a passenger recliner was ordered then the driver side non recliner came without a headrest and needed to be ordered separate.

From Scratching to collision repair anything is possible. I tend to think it was rather some minor issue, but I never buy a car without personal inspection.

Can they really be called, "quarter panels"??? :D
There is a shot of the commonly crusty corner of the quarter panel that the trunk lid covers. There appears to be some chipped paint that's been touched up but the always problematic rust in this area seems apparent???

To me this looks like a great car and I hope it goes for a lot more than $15K. I would have loved to have seen some under belly pics.

Hendricks played the accordion? I didn't even know he was Polish!

One of my sons has this shirt... He says only a few people get it....
