Passenger side axle

Hi Everyone,
Looking for so guidance on a rebuild of axles for a ‘65 Chrysler.

After removing the bearings and retainers from the adjuster side axle, we noticed this slot. Is this normal?

No, some idiot burned off the old bearing with a torch, that axle is unsafe and is junk. Heat should never be applied to any axle.

Unsafe. I had an axle fail while I was driving because of that very issue - lost a wheel on an off ramp.
