Photos of Vintage Auto Dealerships, Repair Shops, and Gas Stations

One more gas, I mean petrol station from down under.

Everyone is happy to see this customer. You don't get this kind of service in the states.

I wonder about the taped left headlight. Probably to remind the driver the steering wheel isn't on that side.

Not much left, but the house in the background looks the same.

Checking the level. There was often some paste on the end to check for water. I had a can of that around here... Somewhere LOL.

Note the car on the back of the tow truck! Front wheels on the truck and the back wheels suspended.

Today. Still a gas station, but much different. Building behind it looks the same.

Homer Bedlow from Green Acres/Petticoat Junction must have ran a Gulf station too.

This was to be Dick Landy's Pro Stock ride until Chrysler changed their mind and they used a Challenger. 1972 Demon.

I believe this is a NASCAR infield gas station, possibly Daytona, back when Pure was the official race fuel.

This one, art deco, built 1939, was zoned residential. Now (perhaps) in the middle of a big dollar resuse project. they wanna add couple stories, other stuff, and make 50 apartments/townhouses out of it.

built originally as an auto dealer, Fairmount @ 15th, Philadelphia PA. Most recent sales price was over $2 million, outta my hobby retirement house range (North Philly is pricey I read).

Forward Control Jeep FC-170 tow truck holding a Studebaker completely off the ground. If I had unlimited room and funds, I would have at least one FC Jeep and some Studebakers in my collection.

Duffield Lincoln Mercury, mid-century Moderne (post WWII til about late 1960's), built about 1962, 1940 Lakewood @ Outer Circle, Long Beach CA.

Once the epitome of dealer building design on the 1963/1964 MY Lincolns. Short lived,

Clearly 60 years later, an UN-competitive DEALERSHIP building design (all that open showroom space vs, parts/service, in a pricey real-estate market), though I was hoping it would have had a suitable re-purpose, not surprised its gone.

Marshall Duffield (led USC to victory in the 1930 Rose Bowl) sold the dealership in 1964, it stayed a dealership under various brands until the building was torn down in 2009,
