Picked up a new daily driver...

Well, I sold my Chrysler Fifth Avenue. I still miss that car. I blame Monaco75 for this one though...

:pp:

Very nice!! I love it! What kind of wheels are those? They go great on her! We need a new thread, with more pics for her.

Like my handle says - I love Dobas! My first car was my Dad's 78. Carmel Tan Metallic MU3. Its slowly disolving away now in storage along with my 79. Was planning a full restoration to show the old man but he passed away in January and now I've got the 300 twins to worry about. I'll get there someday and put her back together and hopefully the old man will be up there smiling! Thanks for reminding me about how much I miss the old girl. Keep posting Doba stuff I'll be more than grateful!

My father was a frugal bastard. Looked at cars like I look at pots and pans. An instrument to get something done.
He went through his period of stripper C-bodies and by the mid 70's was still looking for a cheap Chrysler and a stripped 'Doba was about $1.98 cheaper than a stripped C. Ha! Try and find a stripped doba. Negotiating gave him an ulcer so the task was left to me. Ordered him a stripped dk. blue doba w/air. The salesmen didn't even know that you could order one w/o vinyl.
I have to tell you, a round headlight deep blue doba, no vinyl, no bling, no anything was absolutely gorgeous. And nothing broke. I picked out the color and the soft blue cloth interior knowing in 3 yrs/100k miles it was going to be my car... :D.

Thats interesting because my Dad bought the cheapest Cordoba they had as well. No vinyl roof only had a 360 and leather wrapped wheel. Vinyl 50/50 bench with fold down armrest, am radio thats it. No cruise no A/C but the weird thing was a Tach? I tore out the lean burn and put the TQ on. Big alpine stereo with equalizer (big thing in 82) Dad never forgave me about that lol

Does anyone remember the 1976/1977 models with the non lean burn 400 magnum Cordobas. From the factory w/o cats also. I seen one rusted pretty bad late in its life and never was restored.

I thought all Chrysler products had converters after 74? On the Lean Burn I think 76 was the first year for it on the passenger car. So, maybe you were looking at a 75 Cordoba with a 400 big block which would of not had Lean Burn.

I believe there was no such thing. There was a post 75 BB without cats for cop use only but I never heard of one in the Cordoba.

I had a 76 with lean burn and no factory cat. Chrysler was on the right track with lean burn and multi spark discharge just needed time for the electronics to catch up.

400, I knew the cars history from new. I bought it in 1984 for $250 as a insurance total from a friends mom who had bought it 3 years prior from the original owner which was a older woman with no interest in ditching a cat. I also had to put a Y pipe on the car after about a year the original was a one piece pipe from manifolds to muffler the replacement I bought was the same and there was no heat shield where the cat is supposed to be and would be the next year 1977.

Got a few things swapped over from the parts car.

The sun visors cleaned up very nice! A lot better then the faded, warped, and cracked originals.

The rear sway bar was loose on the Cordoba when I got it. Tried to tighten the links up, but they broke like they all do. Miraculously I was able to get the bar outa the charger, and into the cordoba with no problems. What a difference in ride now.

Swapped out the passenger door glass. It had a ton of scratches in it.

Hopefully more to come soon. Has anyone re wrapped one of these center consoles in vinyl? Is it pretty straight forward? Looks like it should be. The vinyl on the one I have has a few tears, and is coming up from the plastic in the tray area.
