Neat car, but I doubt it left the factory with dual quads and a 4 speed. I really love the back end on these, but the grill is blahh, blahh, blahh.

I'm sure that the 98 series prob never had a 4 spd from factory, and buckets. And he doesn't mention engine size either, maybe a 394 or 401?
I'm not sure if the trunk has had repairs done to it or not. It doesn't look right in the rear wheel tub area

They did offer a 98 Custom Sport Coupe offered bucket seats and a console, so I'm sure that's what it used to have.
Power brakes were standard on the 98 and there's no booster on this one, so I'd guess that the pedals are out of a stripper 3 speed Dynamic 88, and just like Chrysler, you can't mix and match manual brake and power brake pedal set-ups.
There aren't many of these around. There wasn't much to choose from on Google images. You're certainly correct about the tires. White stripes and the correct wheel covers would make a huge improvement, especially on a black car.
You really need to be careful when shopping a GM of this vintage. The exterior sheetmetal can look great, but the body mounts will be all rotted away. Decades ago, a friend of mine bought a pretty clean looking '64 Lesabre, and he ended up back-halfing the car because all the mounts were gone in the trunk area. As you mentioned, anything suspicious looking with the trunk floor can be big trouble.

All '63 Olds starfires came with the hydramatic transmission (slim Jim type) The '64 Olds Starfire could be had with the 394 cid and the 4 speed transmission. If my memory still works, that was the only year that a 4 speed was offered on the large full sized Oldsmobile. There was also an optional turbocharger for the '64 Jetfire offered but very few were produced with that option. Virtually none survived as there was a recall that removed the turbo setup in favor of the more traditional 4BBL carb. (Corrected)
The 394 engine went away after '64, so I suspect someone may have retro fitted a '64 setup into this '63.

A car that big, and if engine is essentially 1963-era stock - there's a lot of new cars that will walk away from this car on city streets.
And even if the Olds has 4:10 gears or something -- then it'll be fighting for grip.
Here are 2 snips - I simply shose the 7-plus second category and snips from Chrysler and Honda. (meaning, I didn't cherrypick data)
Look at what's on the list - minivans, little sport-utes, some hybrids.
The 6 to 7-second list has plenty of common cars that litter the driveways of every middle-class neighborhood. Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, etc.
And if the punk is driving a base-model Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger - forget it.
Unless someone can show actual data, I'm thinking this car would be an 8+ sec car.

I had a 63 Starfire back in the late 70's. The 394 had no problem dispatching what passed for performance cars back then. Current stuff would be a different story I'm sure but even by today's standards that thing would be no slouch.
I'm pretty sure the only US made 4 speed transmission available to anybody in 1963 would be a Borg Warner T10 so the Muncie would be retrofit for sure. Borg Warner must have owned the patent on full synchro 4 speeds or something because nobody had their own until 64.
I never cared for the 98 taillights but I'd drive it.
It looks pretty decent but I think he's going to be a while getting $15K for it.
