Removal of 1968 Chrysler 300 front fender (fake) vents

Does anyone know if these can be gently pried out without access to the rear of the fender or are they attached with nuts? I looked through the service manual but couldn't find any reference to removing emblems, though most of the other emblems I've removed are held in with nuts so I'm thinking these are too.

I think those pieces are bolted on.

Just got mine back from the painter and they reassembled the fenders, doors, trunk, etc. Appears I will have to remove the fender tubs to get at reinstalling the fender pieces.

I looked in the parts book and they don't show a good illustration, but they list clips instead of nuts.

"Clips" might be illustrated in the "Standard Parts" section of the parts manual, but probably are of the "insert" type which is placed in the hole and then the "pins" on the backside of the molding are inserted into them, to retain them. Personally, as those clips can chip the paint when they go in, I might opt to use some well-trimmed 3M molding tape to secure them instead. Might not be "correct", but would ensure "one more area" where rust might not happen in the future. PLUS easier to remove should the need be.

Perhaps the reason they did not install the smblems is the fragility of the pins (on the backside) was tested on a few of them?

I believe you are correct. They are called barrel clips in our locale. Absolute bear to remove unless you have access to the the inside. Easier to put in place than remove.
