Just curious... 5/16" fuel hose? That line from the tank looks like it's squeezed down like when someone has a 3/8" hose on a 5/16" fitting. But it's a picture and hard to tell, so I may be just seeing things.

You're seeing things just as I see them there. Either that's a 3/8" hose going into that pump or a badly swollen 5/16" one. I advise our O.P. to get new, good quality rubber, not AutoZone's generic stuff. Gates Green Stripe was mentioned as a good standard.... I should check up on this, as some of my aged fuel line rubber will need replacement w/n the year.

Gates has barricade fuel hose and barricade fuel hose for EFI that takes 225 psi. Not necessary for a carbureted vehicle.

The barricade is good for ethanol fuel.

It is not thicker than the other fuel hose, rubber is more dense less pliable. Works good.

I like what I see here. Both of my Old Mopars will be well fitted with the Barricade stuff.
