hi. Can I drop a 318 into a big block car? I know that there’s the 2 versions of the 727 so I was curious if I could hook a small block motor up to a big block trans. Thanks

Lots of other things that do not fit as well. Hose pattern on the radiator is different, exhaust is all different, mounts for A/C, PS and alternator are also different.

How about a stroker 318 or 360? That should bolt up to your present tranny yes?

The big block 727 will bolt up to B and RB series engines only. LA series engines need a smaller bell housing. They did make a 727 for that purpose it is just not found in cars originally set up for big blocks.

Ahh my bad ,,I read it backwards!! Pardons!!!

you guys , they both use the same flywheels 130 t on the torque converters , so there is no small and big ones . its just a different pattern on the bell housings . the la has the same bolt pattern as the early hemi's and poly's . but different locator pins locations . and the b and rb bell housings are different on the pattern again , but no size difference . and we are talking 727's here .
