Here's my dilemma. Christmas is coming, cars in paid storage and I need an after
market, dash mounted radio to put on my Christmas list. Don't know the spread
on the knobs or the size of the dial head. Need help really bad cause I don't know
what will fit. What do you guys use? My car is a 65 Fury III. If some one could
get the necessary dimensions, I could probably do the research but, like I said
the cars currently unavailable. that's really the sound of silence. Thanks!

Doesn't the bezel cover part of the radio face? If it does you will not find an aftermarket radio to fit without cutting the dash.

Find another 65 Fury factory radio and send it out to be converted to am/fm-CD with an aux to plug and play a mp3 player. It'll fit perfect.

Or just convert your original.

I like both of these ideas and will pass the Secret Audio request onto Santa. She'll have to get it if she
wants the new kitchen in the New Year. A little persuasion goes a long way when it's in my
favor.

I had the am radio in my'67 Imp converted to am/fm/mp3 and this is what it looks like now. The foot operated search button still works flawlessly with it.

The radio automatically powers up on fm band. To change to am you just turn it off and back on again and do the same when you want to go back to fm. It's really a very simple set up and with all the new modern speakers, it sounds great.

Best way around that ....... You get your own radio redone ..... and ..... she gets her own kitchen redone.........
Unless, of course, you both still believe in Santa. Then ...... never mind.....

Also, it sounds like a win .... win sutiation. She gets her kitchen and you get good stuff out of it ...... plus a radio.

Can't hear my radio to well in my car. The exhaust is to loud..LOL. Sounds great with the engine off though!! I'd rather listen to the engine anyway...

I enjoy the sound of a great exhaust system ..........as long as it's not mine. I don't even want to hear mine at all, unless i'm standing behind the car. If I hear engine noises ...... somethings probably breaking.

In the wind with the top down and the radio playing is all I want to hear.

What's a radio? None of my cars have working radios and when the CHP car is done the radio will be tuned to the local CHP dispatch. Even when I'm in newer cars I tend to turn it off, guess I just got use to no radios.

I must say that I love all of this modern technology with I-Pods, CD's, Computer & satellite radio whereas I can pick and choose what I like to listen to and not hear the same old music or so called music over and over again "UNLESS I WANT TO" .......... Just like cable TV 1,000 channels with not a damn thing to watch for a hundred plus bucks a month.

I bought a low cost mp3 converter, (similar to the old fm converters), and can play it through my original am radio. I download the music I like off a playlist onto a mp3 player that holds over 3000 songs. A couple of up graded speakers and it sounds great, although its still mono and low watts. Works for us, (as long as someones exhaust dosen't drownd it out) ..... LOL.
